2nd edition of the cultural cycle takes place this Sunday in the center of Rio

 

This Sunday (03/10), the 2nd edition of the “Pedal Cultural Carioca - Caminhos da Independência” takes place in the central region of Rio de Janeiro, an event that, as the name suggests, marks a bicycle tour through specific points of the city. capital of Rio de Janeiro. The choice of the historic Center of Rio was to celebrate the bicentenary of Brazil's Independence.

The start will take place at 9:30 am on Rua Alexandre Herculano, behind the João Caetano Theater and in front of the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura, close to Praça Tiradentes. Cyclists will travel for approximately 4km until they reach Praça XV, where the event will end.

First edition of Pedal Cultural Carioca

The first edition took place on July 25th in the São Cristóvão neighborhood, in the North Zone. To participate, you must fill out a form on the “Space and Life” website, responsible for organizing the ride. There are 100 vacancies available to the public.

For the deputy mayor of the Center, Leonardo Pavão, the objective is to hold a Cultural Pedal in each neighborhood that makes up the Subprefecture area, thus promoting leisure and culture in the region that is considered the “heart” of the city. “We are counting on the support of CET-Rio and City Hall bodies to ensure safety for everyone and provide support to make our event incredible. Let’s go cycling”, it says.

Basic rules for everyone to have a good experience:

  1. Everyone must wear a mask and maintain a safe distance throughout the event;
  2. The organizers will be identified at the beginning of the tour and must not be overtaken (or we will understand that there has been a cancellation);
  3. Participants must only use the right lane(s) during the tour;
  4. The use of personal safety equipment is recommended (helmet, gloves and horn).
  5. Check the condition of your bike, especially the brakes.
