It distresses me

The play with text by Julia Spadaccini and Marcia Brasil delves into the anxieties of six people in unusual situations. The plot is divided into three moments. It begins with a meeting between a salesman from a men's clothing store, around 40 years old, and a clerk from a fast-food store, between 45 and 50 years old, in the smoking area of a shopping mall. The next scene follows a necromakeup artist, who dreamed of doing Liz Taylor's makeup, working on the body of a worker who died in an accidental fall from the cafeteria window while applying her red lipstick. The third story takes place on a film set, when a young porn actor, in his first appearance in a gay film, talks to a veteran actor, passionate about poetry, while they wait for filming to begin. The cast includes Fábio Ventura, Leandro Baumgratz, Maria Adélia, Noemia Oliveira, Raquel Rocha and Rogério Garcia. Directed by Alexandre Mello. Premieres on April 30th.

The best version

In the cast, Ana Paula Secco, Armando Babaioff and Michel Blois. Julia Spadaccini's unpublished text covers fifty years of the history of the family composed of Osmarindo (Babaioff), Gilda (Ana Paula) and Gilsinho (Michel), highlighting the years 1976, 1985 and 2020. Inspired by the universe of playwright Nelson Rodrigues, A master at exposing the contradictions of the conservative sectors of Brazilian society, Julia combines the psychological subtleties of the system that supports such a structure with the contours of the play. According to the author, the text aims to make the viewer question the validity of this “best version” and who it serves. In this investigation, it became clear that it is a pressure that affects everyone and that it is not just about roles, but about a social order that aims to regulate behavior. “The narrative of father, mother and son as an inexhaustible source of reflection still attracts a national audience”, says the author.
