Rio Gastronomy at Pier Mauá

The event aims to repeat the success of the previous edition and features branches of the best restaurants, food trucks and bars; workshops; fairs and shows in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro

Tasting new dishes with different seasonings and flavors, enjoying shows and chats with national and international chefs is always a great experience, isn't it? That's why you can't miss Rio Gastronomia 2019 – the biggest gastronomy event in the country, which will be held at Pier Mauá for the fourth consecutive time.

From the 16th to the 18th and 22nd to the 25th of August, the event will bring together important names in gastronomy from Brazil and the world. The opening party takes place on August 15th with the traditional Rio Show Gastronomy Award, which recognizes the best restaurants in the city. This year, in addition to the restaurants that will receive the maximum price from the five “forks”, the best in the chef, contemporary, French, Italian, novelty, Portuguese, meat, fish, Japanese, vegetarian, pizza, bar and Brazilian categories will be awarded.

After eight editions, with an audience of more than 50 thousand people last year, there is great expectation of repeating its success this year. Branches of the best restaurants, food trucks and bars in the city; tastings with big culinary names; classes, chats and workshops with national and international chefs, and prominent professionals in the sector; In addition to pocket shows, the cachaça fair and the state's producers' fair will be the festival's main attractions.

Distributed in two auditoriums, Senac and Santander, a team of stars such as Nicola Fedeli (Fasano Al Mare), Thomas Troisgros (Olympe), Alberto Landgraf (Oteque), Nathalie Passos (Naturalie Bistrô), Nello Cassese (Cipriani), Didier Labbé ( Didier) and many more are present in classes, workshops and lectures.

One of the highlights of the event is providing visitors with the opportunity to taste dishes from big names in Brazilian and global cuisine at more affordable prices. There will be 18 restaurants that will offer pocket versions of their menus, in addition to the Rio Gastronomia dish, offered especially at the event for the price of R$ 20.

Some of the best restaurants and bars in the city such as Barsa; Mamma Jamma; Naga; Aconchego Carioca; Lasai; Atelier Benoliel; Capixada Butchery; Teva Vegetable; Gero; Trattoria; Grupo Irajá with selected items from Irajá, Formidable, Cozinha Artagão, Azur and Al Fresco restaurants; in addition to the Japanese Kō Bā Izakaya, which debuts at the event; among others, are on the list of establishments participating in Rio Gastronomia. The healthy and vegetarian food kiosk So.Ga Beach, winner of the 2019 edition of Sabores da Orla, is also included in the program.

And in the large open-air community area of Píer Mauá, 14 food trucks and six popular bikes will be parked, including newcomers Curadoria and Tutto Nhoque, and veterans Ceviche da Fabi and Cogu.

In this edition the program includes music and fun for all tastes. Live musical performances of different styles entertain the audience and close each day of the event on the Sesc Stage. At the opening, on August 16th, at 10pm, Alceu Valença shows the best of his repertoire of xotes, forrós and baião. Samba singer Arlindinho will put on a big samba circle on August 18th, at 7:30 pm. Closing August 22nd, singer and composer Jorge Aragão will perform his hits at 10pm. Sandra de Sá's shows, on August 23rd, at 10pm, and the PLOC Party presentation, on August 24th, at 8:30pm, conclude the event's musical agenda.
