Gentileza Intermodal Terminal

The terminal, considered the largest public transport integrator in the capital of Rio, is located in Caju in front of Rodoviária Novo Rio and has two floors. The ground floor is dedicated to the arrival of all modes. At the top, there are ticket offices, bathrooms, 80 stores and the waiting room for the special service Terminal Gentileza/Aeroporto Internacional do Galeão (GIG).

The terminal is fully accessible. There are three walkways (Rodoviária, Rua São Cristóvão and Avenida Brasil) and another access via Avenida Francisco Bicalho.

The Terminal integrates three modes: the new BRT Transbrasil, VLT lines 1 and 4 and 14 regular municipal bus lines. VLT Line 1, which departs from Santos Dumont Airport, has been expanded and will reach the terminal. In March, Line 4 came into operation, which takes passengers from the terminal to Praça XV, where the ferry terminal is located.

And now it will also be possible to access a VLT line within the Gentileza Terminal, reaching important points in the Center of Rio, such as Santos Dumont Airport, Avenida Rio Branco, Praça Mauá or Orla Conde.

The Federal Government and Rio City Hall were partners in the implementation of the VLT, with an investment of R$ 532 million of federal resources from the Mobility Growth Acceleration Program (PAC).

The terminal is expected to serve around 150,000 people per day. The Gentileza Terminal works were carried out in an area of 77 thousand square meters that the municipal management purchased from Caixa for R$ 40.8 million. Investment in construction was close to R$ 300 million by the Public Private Partnership (PPP) of the Centro VLT, with R$ 257.8 million financed by Banco do Brasil for the restructuring of the BRT system.

Executive line to Rio Galeão Airport (GIG)

To meet the demand of passengers using Tom Jobim International Airport (Galeão), an express executive bus line Terminal Gentileza x Galeão, without stops at stations, went into operation every day, from 6 am to midnight, with scheduled intervals 20 minutes with an estimated travel time of 16 minutes. The buses will have luggage racks and a waiting room available to passengers at the Gentileza Terminal. The fare will be R$ 15, and the ticket can be paid using the new Jaé or Riocard ticketing system.

Passengers will be able to buy the physical Jaé card at self-service machines, which accept notes, pix, debit and credit cards. If you want to link this card to the created Jaé account, it must go to a store or ATM. It is worth noting that the amount paid when purchasing the card will automatically be converted into credit to be used as a ticket.

Users can now download the Jaé app or access the website to create an account. Through the app, available for both IOS and Android cell phone models, it will be possible to view the balance, statement, top up, request, block, cancel and request a duplicate of the card. It is important to highlight that in this new system the balance does not expire.

Gentileza X Santos Dumont Intermodal Terminal

VLT Carioca expands the operation of its line 1, which now runs between the Gentileza Intermodal Terminal and Santos Dumont. The Terminal Gentileza x Santos Dumont route can be traveled by passengers in around 30 minutes. Opening hours are maintained: from 6 am to midnight.

PROPHET KINDNESS: – The name and design of the terminal make reference to José Datrino, the Prophet Gentileza. He became known for the inscriptions he immortalized on the columns of the Gasologista and Perimetral viaducts. The most famous of them is the phrase “Gentileza generates Gentileza”, which makes up the visual identity of Terminal Gentileza.
