Summer is coming, the most anticipated time of the year in Rio de Janeiro! Along with the season comes the start of the cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1. The ships start docking this Saturday (11\/10) and the last one arrives in the Marvelous City on 20\/04\/2026. There will be a total of 28 giants, 21 with foreign itineraries and seven with national routes, with 84 berths. Of these, two will dock at Pier Mau\u00e1 for the first time. The forecast is for 57 port calls in Brazil, 29 on international routes and the number of visitors to reach the 240,000 mark. The MSC Seaview will have the largest number of passengers: 5,429, passing through the city on April 12, 2026.<\/p>

The first ship to have the honor of inaugurating the season is the expedition ship Scenic Eclipse, this Saturday (11\/10) at 8am. The luxury cruise ship has several special features, including its own fleet of helicopters and submarines, used to reach destinations in remote regions such as Antarctica and the Arctic.<\/p>

On October 25, also at 8 a.m., one of the giants of shipping will dock at the Pier: the MSC Preziosa, with capacity for 4,345 tourists. The Preziosa, which won the VT Award in 2018\/2019, has as its trademark a staircase studded with Swarovski crystals. The ship has a water park with five swimming pools and a 120-meter-long waterslide that juts out of the ship. The list of attractions continues with a bowling alley, 4D cinema, theater with Broadway-style shows, casino, spa and sports court.<\/p>

The ship will be cruising nationally for three to five nights, alternately visiting Ilhabela (SP), B\u00fazios (RJ), Ilha Grande (RJ), Balne\u00e1rio Cambori\u00fa (SC) and Porto Belo (SC); and internationally for six to seven nights, visiting B\u00fazios (RJ), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Ilh\u00e9us (BA), Punta del Este (Uruguay), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). Boarding will take place in Santos (SP).<\/p>

Special Cruises<\/strong><\/p>

Among the highlights of the season, the MSC Seaview will have the largest number of passengers: 5,429. The ship will pass through the city on April 12, 2026. Carnival will also be very busy: between Friday (13\/02) and Monday (16\/02), the Pier will see seven ships, three on Friday (Costa Favolosa, Borealis and Silver Whisper), two on Saturday (MSC Armonia and Sapphire Princess), one on Sunday (Pacific World) and one on Monday (Aidamar). February 2026 will also be the month with the most ships docking this season: 19.<\/p>

The MSC Seaview, together with the Costa Diadema, will also fulfill the mission of providing accommodation for COP30 participants in Bel\u00e9m, Par\u00e1, between November and December 2025. Both have been contracted by the federal government to meet the high demand for beds, offering around 3,900 cabins with capacity for up to 6,000 people.<\/p>

Highlights<\/strong><\/p>

This season, two ships will be new attractions at the terminal, making their first port calls in Rio and promising new experiences and options for visitors: the MS Vista and the Borealis. Among the cabotage ships that will pass through Rio, MSC Armonia, MSC Seaview and Costa Favolosa make regular calls. With the exception of the Seaview, the others will embark and disembark passengers at Pier Mau\u00e1. Another novelty is that MSC Cruises will be making partial embarkations on the cabotage ship MSC Sinfonia.<\/p>

New at Pier Mau\u00e1: Warehouse 3 open for events throughout the season<\/strong><\/p>

For the first time in its history, Pier Mau\u00e1 will have an entire warehouse for holding events during the summer: it's Warehouse 3, with 3,500 m\u00b2 and a privileged view of Guanabara Bay and the Olympic Boulevard. The novelty arrives in the middle of the cruise season, which intensely moves the region between October and April, guaranteeing a constant flow of tourists and locals. Relevant events such as Rio Innovation Week, Mondial de la Bi\u00e8re and Rio Oil & Gas have already taken place there.<\/p>

About the previous season<\/strong><\/p>

The 2024\/2025 season saw 37 ships and 107 berths, during which Pier Mau\u00e1 welcomed a total of 323,000 passengers, including embarkations, disembarkations and transit.<\/p>

On a night marked by tributes, music and special performances, the Krooze Awards, known as the Oscars of the Seas, celebrated the companies, destinations and ships that stood out in the 2024\/2025 season. Pier Mau\u00e1 stood out at the awards and won the trophy in the following categories Best Port of Embarkation<\/strong> It is Best Stopover of the Brazilian Season (Rio de Janeiro)<\/strong>.<\/p>

Promoted by Krooze, the largest cruise ecosystem in Latin America, the award honored 38 winners in 16 categories from different segments of the cruise industry, seven more than in 2024. In a maritime travel market that breaks records every season, with an increase in the number of cruisers and new products and services, the award consolidates itself as a benchmark for specialized vision.<\/p>

In its second edition, the Krooze Awards brought new features. The traditional category of Best Theme Cruise has been split into two sub-categories - Best Theme Cruise<\/strong> It is Best Musical Theme Cruise<\/strong> - reflecting the growth of cruises that combine performances by artists and unique experiences on the high seas.<\/p>

This Tuesday (02\/12), at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively, two shipping giants will arrive at Pier Mau\u00e1: the Celebrity Equinox<\/strong>, Maltese flag, bringing 3,148 visitors; and the MSC Fantasia<\/strong>, The Panamanian-flagged ship has capacity for 4,363 tourists. The more than 7,000 passengers will be welcomed in a festive atmosphere in the Cidade Maravilhosa, to the sound of Rio's samba school drummers, including passistas, guaranteeing a typically carioca welcome.<\/p>

Celebrity Equinox is a Solstice-class cruise ship from Celebrity Cruises, completely renovated in 2019. It is known for its gastronomic options, with ten different restaurants, such as the Ocean View Caf\u00e9 buffet and themed spaces, as well as leisure areas such as the Lawn Club, which has real grass, and the spa. The ship also offers a casino, theater and jacuzzis for passengers' comfort.<\/p>

The MSC Fantasia, in its 2025\/2026 season in South America, will have itineraries departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with cruises of eight, nine and ten nights, visiting destinations such as Ilhabela (SP) and Balne\u00e1rio Cambori\u00fa (SC), as well as Montevideo, Uruguay. The ship has a robust structure, including the L'Avanguardia Theater, with Broadway-style shows and live music with international artists; the Casin\u00f2 delle Palme; the Liquid Disco, a panoramic disco; a Formula 1 racing simulator; and a 4D cinema with sensory effects.<\/p>

In addition, the liner has boutiques, bars, restaurants and themed lounges, as well as a large entertainment area with a swimming pool complex, gym, spa, tennis and basketball courts, mini golf, running track and children's area. The MSC Fantasia also has a \u201cyacht inside the ship\u201d, with its own reception, 24-hour butler service, private lounge and pool, as well as an exclusive restaurant.<\/p>

Among the highlights of the season, the MSC Seaview<\/strong> will have the highest number of passengers: 5,429, passing through the city on April 12, 2026. Carnival will also be very busy: between Friday (13\/02) and Monday (16\/02), the Pier will see seven ships - three on Friday (Costa Favolosa, Borealis and Silver Whisper), two on Saturday (MSC Armonia and Sapphire Princess), one on Sunday (Pacific World) and one on Monday (Aidamar). February 2026 will even be the month with the highest number of moorings of the season, totaling 19.<\/p>

The MSC Seaview, together with the Costa Diadema<\/strong>, is also fulfilling its mission of providing accommodation for the participants of the COP30<\/strong>, in Bel\u00e9m (PA). Both were contracted by the federal government to meet the high demand for beds, offering around 3,900 cabins with capacity for up to 6,000 people.<\/p>

New at Pier Mau\u00e1: Warehouse 3 open for events throughout the season<\/strong><\/p>

For the first time in its history, Pier Mau\u00e1 will have an entire warehouse dedicated to events during the summer: the Warehouse 3<\/strong>, with 3,500 m\u00b2 and a privileged view of Guanabara Bay and the Olympic Boulevard. The novelty arrives in the middle of the cruise season, which intensely moves the region between October and April, guaranteeing a constant flow of tourists and locals. Events such as Rio Innovation Week, Mondial de la Bi\u00e8re and Rio Oil & Gas have already been held there.<\/p>

About the previous season (2024\/2025)<\/strong><\/p>

The 2024\/2025 season registered 37 ships and 107 berths, with a total of 323,000 passengers between embarkations, disembarkations and transit at Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>

This is the third award won by the terminal this year alone. Event to return to Rio de Janeiro's calendar after ten-year hiatus<\/strong><\/p>

In 2026, Rio de Janeiro will once again have a fashion week. After a hiatus of around ten years, the former Fashion Rio will return to the city's calendar under a new name: Rio Fashion Week<\/strong>. The announcement was made this week during a presentation at the Pal\u00e1cio da Cidade, one of the headquarters of Rio's City Hall, in Botafogo, in the South Zone of the capital.<\/p>

The first edition of this new phase already has dates and an address: from April 15-18, 2026<\/strong>, with about 30 parades<\/strong> at the Pier Mau\u00e1<\/strong>, in the central region of the city. The proposal is to put Rio back on the fashion circuit and attract the attention of the national and international market.<\/p>

\u201cHosting Rio Fashion Week at Pier Mau\u00e1 reinforces our role as one of the main stages for major events in Rio de Janeiro. It's a powerful encounter between fashion, city and heritage, which repositions Rio on the global creative circuit and values the Pier's vocation as a space for transformative experiences,\u201d says Denise Lima, director of Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>

The event was organized by IMM<\/strong>, the same company responsible for the S\u00e3o Paulo Fashion Week<\/strong>. The creative direction in Rio will be the responsibility of Paulo Borges<\/strong>, which also runs the S\u00e3o Paulo event. The proposal, according to the organizers, is to build a calendar that positions the Rio event in the first semester and the S\u00e3o Paulo event in the second, with an annual edition in each city.<\/p>

During the press conference, the president of IMM, Alan Adler<\/strong>, summed up the concept of the project in one sentence: \u201cRio dressing the world<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>

In addition to the fashion shows, the program includes other activations, such as the premiere of films and audiovisual productions linked to fashion, youth training programs, music and talks. April marks the end of the busy 2024\/2025 cruise season in Rio de Janeiro, and Pier Mau\u00e1 is preparing to welcome seven imposing ships, bringing around 25,000 tourists eager to explore the city and experience the unique atmosphere of the Marvelous City.<\/p>

The first ship to bid farewell to the Rio de Janeiro season this month will be the Costa Favolosa, which arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 on the 1st and begins its return trip to Europe. The exciting transatlantic crossing includes stops in Recife, Mindelo (Cape Verde), Las Palmas, Casablanca (Morocco), Barcelona, Marseille and finally Savona, where it will arrive on April 18, 2025.<\/p>

Then, on the 2nd, the luxurious Scenic Eclipse arrives and will remain at Pier Mau\u00e1 until the 3rd. Considered the world's first discovery yacht, this 6-star ship offers its passengers an exclusive experience. Before leaving for Malaga, Spain, the ship will also explore other Brazilian destinations, offering a special farewell to the country.<\/p>

On April 4, the MS Marina docks at Pier Mau\u00e1 and stays there until April 5, where it will begin a 26-night cruise, passing through some of Brazil's main destinations, such as B\u00fazios, Salvador, Macei\u00f3 and Recife. The ship then heads to Europe, visiting countries such as Spain and Portugal, before arriving at its final destination: the charming city of Lisbon.<\/p>

On December 6, the majestic MSC Grandiosa docks at Pier Mau\u00e1, bringing with it more than 6,000 tourists eager to explore the city. In the country since December, the ship has been making weekly cruises through the Northeast and Southeast regions, offering passengers a unique and memorable experience. The MSC Grandiosa had its second Brazilian season in 2024\/2025.<\/p>

The MSC Poesia docks on the 7th and marks another stop on its journey through Brazil. Since the end of November, the ship has regularly visited Brazilian ports, and is now preparing for its crossing to Europe. Before crossing the Atlantic, the ship will still make stops in Ilh\u00e9us, Salvador and Fortaleza, offering passengers one last opportunity to enjoy the beauty and culture of Brazil.<\/p>

After a short break, the MSC Seaview arrives on April 19. On its route to the port of Genoa in Italy, the ship will make a final Brazilian stopover in Macei\u00f3 on the 22nd.<\/p>

Closing the 2024\/2025 season at Pier Mau\u00e1 in style, the Costa Diadema will be the last ship to leave. More than 65,000 tourists are expected in March<\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0<\/strong>Pier Mau\u00e1 was the scene of an unforgettable carnival, welcoming thousands of revelers and happy people in the midst of the liveliest party of the year. There were 20,000 tourists passing through! And even though the cruise season is almost over, traffic is still intense at the terminal. From March 9 to 31, around 45,000 tourists are expected. Throughout the month, more than 65,000 tourists are expected to pass through the terminal.<\/p>

As of March 9, there will be 15 berths, coming from 11 ships, one of which, the Villa Vie Odyssey, came to Rio for the first time and brought forward its stay to March 4, making it the ship that has stayed the longest at the terminal this season. The other ships passing through the terminal are: Seven Seas Splendor, Costa Favolosa, Msc Seaview, Msc Poesia, Norwegian Star, Volendam, Msc Splendida, Viking Jupiter, Msc Orchestra and Costa Pacifica, the latter two making their final stops in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 is ready to receive a large number of tourists during Carnival! Between March 1st and 5th, the international cruise terminal expects to receive more than 20,000 passengers, as well as 30% of crew.<\/p>

They will come aboard nine incredible ships, including the MSC Seaview, the Silver Ray (coming to Rio de Janeiro for the first time), the Ocean Fuji, the Azamara Journey, the MSC Orchestra, the MSC Armonia, the Crystal Serenity, the MSC Poesia and the Costa Favolosa. In addition, some of these ships will spend several days at Pier Mau\u00e1 during the period, such as the Silver Ray and Crystal Serenity, which will stay for four days; the Azamara Journey, which will stay for three days; the Ocean Fuji and MSC Poesia for two days and the others for just one day.<\/p>

On Sunday and Monday of Carnival, Pier Mau\u00e1 will have five giant ships docked. It will be a real party of ships and tourists there!<\/p>

This massive movement turns Pier Mau\u00e1 into the epicenter of the party, where tourists can play Carnival in the surrounding area or even go to Sapuca\u00ed.<\/p>

And throughout March, the terminal expects to welcome more than 65,000 tourists.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1's structure<\/strong><\/p>

The Pier Mau\u00e1 terminal has a modern, well-equipped structure and offers fast check-in and boarding areas; easy access for passengers; stores and last-minute services, among other amenities.<\/p>

With the arrival of the ships, Pier Mau\u00e1 is reaffirming its role as one of the main cruise destinations in Latin America, ready to welcome tourists in search of adventure and leisure. With everyone's safety in mind, the concessionaire has worked tirelessly in recent months to improve security at the terminal, a space that hosts large-scale events and an intense flow of people during the ship season.<\/p>

A series of significant improvements and investments have been made in port security. Among the main investments made are the CCTV monitoring system with new software; computerized access control using turnstiles and card readers; perimeter alarm using infrared sensors; siren with audio for the emergency control system; modernization of the guardhouses; construction of a new reception; fencing of the water castles, as well as the acquisition of security equipment and software.<\/p>

For the best boarding for those coming by taxi or transport app, passengers should get off at Av. Venezuela and Rua Souza Lima. For those coming by car, the nearest 24-hour parking lot is \u201cParking Pier Mau\u00e1\u201d, with a car entrance between Bar\u00e3o de Tef\u00e9 and Souza Lima, and pedestrian access on the Olympic Boulevard, almost at Armaz\u00e9m 4.<\/p>

More than 43,000 tourists are expected in the city during this period, with the 21st and 25th being the busiest days<\/strong><\/p>

The second half of January will be marked by intense cruise ship traffic at Pier Mau\u00e1, with 16 berths scheduled between the 16th and 30th. During this period, 12 imposing ships will bring more than 43,000 tourists to the city.<\/p>

The 18th, 19th, 24th and 27th will have two simultaneous vessels, while the 21st and 25th will have four and five ships respectively. For the whole month of January, more than 75,000 tourists are expected, not counting the crew.<\/p>

Several cruise ships will be calling at Pier Mau\u00e1 during the second half of January. The Costa Favolosa, which arrives on the 16th, returns on the 24th, offering passengers a unique experience. In addition, the Costa Pac\u00edfica and the Seven Seas Splendor arrive on the 18th, with the Seven Seas Splendor staying until the 19th, when the MSC Orchestra will also be present.<\/p>

On the 21st, Pier Mau\u00e1 will have four ships at the same time: MSC Poesia, MSC Magnifica, MV Pacific World and Bolete (arriving on the 20th). There will be more than 8,500 tourists that day.<\/p>

On the 24th, the luxurious Seven Seas Mariner arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 to join the Costa Favolosa. After a night in town, the Seven Seas Mariner stays until the 25th, when the terminal becomes a real meeting point for cruise ships. Five ships - Costa Pac\u00edfica, MS Marina (which stays until the 27th), MSC Seaview, MSC Orchestra and Seven Seas Mariner - will attract more than 15,000 people to the terminal.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 will welcome six cruise ships between January 3rd and 15th, attracting more than 33,000 tourists. There will be simultaneous moorings on January 8, with three ships, and on January 11, with two. During this period, the giants of the seas passing through the terminal are: MSC Poesia (03 and 12\/01), Costa Pac\u00edfica (04 and 11\/01), MSC Orchestra (05, 08 and 11\/01), Majestic Princess (07 to 08\/01), Costa Favolosa (08\/01 and MS Artania (13 to 15\/01).<\/p>

The highlight of this fortnight is the Majestic Princess, which makes its debut at Pier Mau\u00e1, staying overnight from January 7 to 8. Operated by Princess Cruises, the Majestic Princess is the third ship in a series of ships known as the Royal Class. Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, it began operating in March 2017 and was initially dedicated to cruises in China. It was also the first in the Princess Cruises fleet to feature a stylized version of the company's logo, known as the Sea Witch, on its hull.\u00a0<\/p>

Considered a large ship, it has capacity for more than 4,000 passengers at maximum occupancy and offers premium cruises aimed at an international audience.\u00a0<\/p>

In the 2024\/2025 season, on its debut in Brazil, the Majestic Princess will make two cruises, visiting destinations such as Santos and Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

The MS Artania, which is staying overnight from January 13 to 15, is a ship with a history. Owned by Phoenix Reisen since 2011, it has operated in other passenger ship fleets. It was inaugurated by Princess Diana of England while it belonged to a British company in 1984. At 231 meters long and 29 meters wide, the ship can accommodate up to 1,200 passengers.<\/p>

The terminal receives more than 20,000 tourists in a diversified fleet from different parts of the world<\/strong><\/p>

The month of November at Pier Mau\u00e1 begins with the arrival of a variety of cruise ships that will bring visitors from all over the world. There will be five international ships, one for the first time in Rio de Janeiro; two MSC ships, the Seaview and the Orchestra and one from Costa, the Pacifica, bringing a total of more than 20,000 tourists this month alone.<\/p>

The Viking Jupiter docks on November 3 from Recife with 930 passengers. Built in Italy and launched in 2019, it is a luxury cruise ship belonging to Viking Ocean Cruises and is one of the most recent ships in its fleet, with a Scandinavian-inspired design. Its purpose is to offer a more intimate experience compared to larger vessels.<\/p>

Also arriving on the 3rd, the Seabourn Venture, an ultra-luxurious expedition ship built for ice itineraries and fascinating, remote places, will stay at the terminal until the 5th. The ship has capacity for 264 passengers.<\/p>

The Seaview, also known as The Giant of the Seas, with its capacity for 5429 passengers, will be the attraction on the 07th. As one of the most modern ocean liners in the world, it offers all kinds of recreational facilities, from a high-tech theater, disco and casino to life-size bowling alleys, a multi-level interactive water park and an adventure trail, not to mention children's play areas.<\/p>

On August 8, Aidasol, the eighth ship in the AIDA fleet, inaugurated in 2011, arrives in the Marvelous City. A round-the-world cruise ship from the German company AIDA Cruises, it is 252 meters long and holds a total of 3,000 people. It offers cruises to a variety of interesting destinations with incredible accommodation and attractions for all tastes. It is the second ship to spend the night at Pier Mau\u00e1 this season, departing on November 9.<\/p>

Having made its maiden voyage in April 2022, the elegant boutique ship Swan Hellenic Vega returns to Rio de Janeiro on the 10th, this time with passengers numbering around 158. The expedition ship was designed to travel to unusual destinations and remote polar regions in style and comfort.<\/p>

On November 21, the Costa Pac\u00edfica arrives from Salvador. The ship has a music theme and its infrastructure is capable of accommodating 3,780 passengers. It includes a spa, four swimming pools, five jacuzzis, a virtual reality area, five restaurants, a theater, a casino and a disco. It also has a program of more than 280 shows and parties throughout the season.<\/p>

The highlight of the month is the Sapphire Princess, a ship that will be visiting the city for the first time, arriving on November 25 and departing on November 26. It's a cruise ship owned by Princess Cruises that entered service in 2004 as the sister ship of the Diamond Princess. At the time it was one of the largest cruise ships in the world, with a capacity for 2,670 passengers and is the second Gem-class ship built by Princess Cruises.<\/p>

At the end of November, the MSC Orchestra docks on the 30th. It has five restaurants, 12 bars, a casino, nightclub and theater. For exercise and leisure, there is a sports court, mini golf, beauty salon, spa, three swimming pools and four jacuzzis. For children, there is an area with LEGO and Chicco toys and a children's entertainment program.<\/p>

Security is a priority at Pier Mau\u00e1<\/strong><\/p>

With the arrival of the ships, Pier Mau\u00e1 is reaffirming its role as one of the main cruise destinations in Latin America, ready to welcome tourists in search of adventure and leisure. With everyone's safety in mind, the concessionaire has worked tirelessly in recent months to improve security at the terminal, a space that hosts large-scale events and an intense flow of people during the ship season.<\/p>

A series of significant improvements and investments have been made in port security. Among the main investments made are the CCTV monitoring system with new software; computerized access control using turnstiles and card readers; perimeter alarm using infrared sensors; siren with audio for the emergency control system; modernization of the guardhouses; construction of a new reception; fencing of the water castles, as well as the acquisition of security equipment and software.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 is preparing for another cruise season in 2024\/2025, which begins on October 27, Sunday, at 8 a.m., with the arrival of the international ship World Navigator, bringing 200 passengers. The terminal has established itself as one of Brazil's main port destinations. This year, the port of Rio will welcome 37 different ships, with a total of 107 berths. The number of tourists expected to pass through Pier Mau\u00e1 is expected to reach 323,000.<\/p>

This season, Pier Mau\u00e1 will see the arrival of 26 international and 11 national ships, five of which will be new attractions at the terminal, promising new experiences and options for visitors. Among the cabotage ships that will pass through Rio, the MSC Seaview, MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra, Costa Favolosa and Costa Pacifica will make regular calls. With the exception of the Poesia and the Seaview, all of them also embark and disembark passengers at Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>

The largest cruise ship ever to sail in Brazil is also returning to Rio de Janeiro this season. With two stopovers, the MSC Grandiosa will pass through the city on December 5, 2024 and April 6, 2025. Carnival will also be very busy; on Sunday and Monday, the Pier will see five ships, and on Tuesday, four.<\/p>

\u201cThis season's increase in long-stay ship calls of up to four days makes Rio de Janeiro one of the most sought-after destinations for domestic and foreign cruisers. Our focus and efforts on safety ensure that tourists can enjoy our Marvelous City with peace of mind,\u201d says Marcello Chagas, Pier Mau\u00e1's Operations Manager.<\/p>

Terminal improvements<\/strong><\/p>

For this season, warehouse 5, used for luggage, has been completely renovated and air-conditioned, providing greater comfort and efficiency in passenger service, guaranteeing an even more pleasant and safe experience for tourists disembarking in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

Highlights of this season<\/strong><\/p>

In the 2024\/2025 season, one of the main attractions will be the wide variety of ships passing through Pier Mau\u00e1. Among them will be expedition, luxury and international vessels, including two Princess Cruises ships. After approximately five years away from Brazil, the company is returning to Pier Mau\u00e1 with the Sapphire Princess and the Majestic Princess. Both are large ships and will make their debut in Rio de Janeiro, with overnight stops at the end of November and beginning of January, respectively.<\/p>

In February, Cunard Line will also return to Pier Mau\u00e1 after five years. With a history of 190 years, this renowned British company will bring the Queen Victoria, which has a capacity of around 2,500 passengers.<\/p>

Another attraction of the season in Rio de Janeiro are the round-the-world cruises. Among the ships that will pass through the city on these routes are the MSC Magnifica, the Costa Deliziosa, the Villa Vie Odyssey, the Crystal Serenity, the Vasco da Gama, the Volendam, the Pacific World and the Insignia.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 will also welcome Silversea's new Silver Ray. This ship, which operates high-end cruises, is considered one of the most luxurious in the world, with a design focused on sustainability.<\/p>

The season also marks the return of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines to Brazil. After years of absence, the company will bring the Bolette, one of its newest ships, to Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

About the previous season<\/strong><\/p>

Considered the longest in the last ten years, the 2023\/2024 season registered 37 ships and 119 berths, where the port of Rio welcomed a total of 467,986 passengers, between embarkations, disembarkations and transit.<\/p>

Around 16 thousand tourists are expected during this period and<\/strong>\u00a0four ships will be docked simultaneously on the 11th and 12th of February and three on the 10th<\/strong><\/p>

The month of February is about to transform Pier Mau\u00e1 into a vibrant scene with a parade of beautiful ships. 24 dockings are scheduled throughout the month, 11 ships, including three debutants. The expectation is to receive around 84 thousand tourists passing through Pier Mau\u00e1 throughout the month. In the week leading up to Carnival, approximately 18 thousand tourists will pass through the terminal, while in the week of Carnival this average will be 16 thousand tourists who can inject more than US$ 4 million (R$ 19 million) into the city's economy.<\/p>

Anticipating the festivities, the week preceding Carnival will be marked by the arrival of five ships, with emphasis on the simultaneous presence of two ships on February 4th. On the 3rd Costa Diadema arrives; on the 4th, the Seaview and the debut of the Ambition in the port of Rio. On the 6th it is the turn of the MSC Musica and on the 7th the Costa Fascinosa gives the air of grace.<\/p>

During the busy carnival period, from February 10th to 13th (Saturday to Tuesday), Pier Mau\u00e1 prepares even more for the arrival of seven ships, distributed throughout the festive days. On the 10th, three vessels bring even more energy to the carnival atmosphere: the international The World, the MSC Seaview and the Costa Diadema.<\/p>

Four ships will be docked simultaneously on the 11th. In addition to The World, which will remain until the 13th, the arrival of Azamara Quest, MSC Armonia and the debutant MV Pacific World is expected.<\/p>

On the 12th it is the turn of another newcomer, the Silver Nova, to join The World, Azamara Quest, MV Pacific World, again totaling four ships in the terminal. Silver Nova will remain at Pier Mau\u00e1 until February 15th.<\/p>

One fact that draws attention is ships staying overnight at the terminal for several days. Marcello Chagas, operations manager at Pier Mau\u00e1, highlights this trend:<\/p>

\u201cWe are observing a growing interest in alternative tourist routes, which has attracted international vessels, some of them planning stays for longer periods, as we can see during the carnival period. This trend reflects the intention of cruise ships to enjoy the opportunities that Brazil, and especially Rio de Janeiro, provide for a longer period of time\u201d, comments Marcello.<\/p>

Prioritizing safety and well-being at Pier Mau\u00e1<\/strong><\/p>

In order to guarantee the adequate internal and external functioning of the port, the Tourist Policing Battalion (BPTur) of the Military Police, with the support of the State Tourist Security Council (CONSETUR), maintains a mobile post between warehouses 3 and 4 throughout the season. The team is reinforced to provide passengers with a smooth and comfortable experience as they go out to enjoy the parade, enjoy the blocks and return to the terminal without any setbacks. There is comprehensive planning involving several municipal bodies that have been long-time partners: Municipal Guard, BPTUR, 5th BPM, DEAT, RJ City Hall, RioTur, Centro Presente, CDURP, CDRJ, VLT, SMTR, CET RIO, CBMERJ, among others .<\/p>

About the 2023\/2024 season<\/strong><\/p>

Being one of the longest in recent years, the cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1 began on October 27, 2023 and will continue until May 4, 2024. In total there will be 37 giants, 27 foreign ships and 10 national ships. Of these, 14 will dock for the first time in our Wonderful City. The forecast is for 85 national stops, 33 international stops and a movement of 400 thousand visitors throughout the season.<\/p>

On the 17th, Pier Mau\u00e1 has two moorings, both scheduled to arrive at 7am. MSC Musica arriving from Ilha Bela and MSC Seaview arriving from B\u00fazios. On that day alone, there are around 20,000 people at the terminal.<\/p>

The international Europa 2 arrives from Salvador on the 20th, around 5pm and remains at Pier Mau\u00e1 until the 22nd, 6pm, heading to Itaja\u00ed. The first days of December promise to stir up the waters of Rio de Janeiro, at Pier Mau\u00e1, with the imposing presence of cruise ships that delight tourists and locals. From December 1st to 12th, the terminal will have eight dockings with six ships, three of which are international: Viking Jupiter, Azamara Quest and Norwegian Star. The movement of travelers will be intense, as it is estimated that more than 27 thousand people will transit the terminal during this period.<\/p>

The first ship of December arrives on the 1st, the Viking Jupiter, with capacity for 930 passengers. It is known for offering luxurious and exploratory cruise experiences and is part of the \u201cViking Ocean Cruises\u201d class, which is recognized for its elegance, attention to detail, and itineraries that explore diverse destinations around the world.<\/p>

On the 4th it is the turn of the Costa Fascinosa, the second Costa Cruises ship to dock at Pier Mau\u00e1 this season. With embarkations in Rio de Janeiro, Fascinosa will make international cruises of seven to nine nights to B\u00fazios (RJ), Ilha Grande (RJ), Ilhabela (SP), Balne\u00e1rio Cambori\u00fa (SC), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina) .<\/p>

December 5th will be the first day of this season to feature two ships docked simultaneously: the Azamara Quest, a luxurious vessel from Amazara Club Cruises, with capacity for 781 guests, and the MSC Seaview, which has already been here in the 2022 season. \/2023 and continues to be one of the most modern in the fleet. It alone will move 10,000 tourists per stay at Pier Mau\u00e1, as it will embark and disembark in Rio de Janeiro! It also returns on December 8th and 11th.<\/p>

The largest ship in history to sail in Brazilian waters, the MSC Grandiosa, arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 this Thursday (23), scheduled to dock at 8am, and has capacity for more than six thousand passengers on board! The vessel is 331 meters long and 75 meters high.<\/p>

The ship left Europe (Civitavecchia, Italy) on November 4th, when it began its Atlantic crossing towards the country. Lasting 21 nights, the complete itinerary ends in the Port of Santos, on the 25th. Before that, however, it passes through several destinations in Europe, the Atlantic and also in Brazil.<\/p>

Among the ports visited is Genoa, in Italy, where passengers also board, as well as Macei\u00f3. The capital of Alagoas was the first national stop of MSC Grandiosa, on the 19th of this month.<\/p>

From November 26th, the ship offers a series of weekly cruises along the national coast that include stops in the states of S\u00e3o Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and Alagoas. With embarkations in Santos, Salvador and Macei\u00f3, MSC Grandiosa continues in Brazil until the end of March 2024.<\/p>

From November 26th, Costa Favolosa marks the start of Costa Cruzeiros' 2023\/2024 Brazilian season at Pier Mau\u00e1. The ship began its journey towards Brazil departing from Savona, Italy, on November 9th. With decor inspired by fairy tales, the ship offers mini-cruises in Brazil, as well as weekly trips to Argentina and Uruguay. Its season runs until May 3, 2024, promising magical experiences on board.<\/p>

With more than 6,000 sculptures and works of art inside, the ship has spaces such as the Camelot Piano Bar, inspired by King Arthur's court, and the El Dorado Casino, influenced by the city of solid gold from indigenous legend. She is a modified version of the original Concordia class ships, she has only one identical twin: the Costa Fascinosa.<\/p>

Last days of November with MSC ships<\/strong><\/h4>

On the 29th, MSC Lirica arrives with its fascinating story. Initially built in 2003, the ship underwent an expansion in 2015, gaining new cabins and spaces. Safety and comfort first<\/b><\/h3>

Pier Mau\u00e1 puts the safety and comfort of passengers at the forefront this season. The terminal's infrastructure will be improved with the installation of covers in its areas and an air conditioning system to ensure the comfort of travelers.<\/p>

Before boarding ships, all passengers and crew undergo rigorous inspections, including carry-on bag checks, metal detectors and, when necessary, personal searches. Furthermore, all warehouses are equipped with the most modern scanners, X-ray systems, surveillance cameras and highly trained security guards.<\/p>

The international cruise terminal is also in negotiations to offer the sale of Riocard (electronic ticketing system) for greater convenience for passengers who wish to explore the city using public transport.<\/p>

Mondial de La Biere (11 to 15\/10)<\/strong><\/p>

Lovers of good beer have an appointment at Mondial de La Biere! This incredible event will bring together a wide selection of craft, national and international beers, as well as delicious gastronomic pairings. The public will also be able to enjoy musical shows and participate in lectures on beer culture. There will be days of joy and fun guaranteed at Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>

Rio Coffee Nation \u2013 The Special Coffee Route (10\/20 to 22)<\/strong><\/p>

For those who love the aroma and flavor of coffee, Rio Coffee Nation is an unmissable experience. The coolest gathering of specialty and organic coffees in Brazil arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 for the first time, celebrating the culture of this drink so loved around the world. With tastings, workshops with experienced baristas and the chance to learn the secrets behind each cup, coffee lovers will be enchanted by the event.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The cruise season ends on April 17, 2023 at Pier Mau\u00e1. The last illustrious visitor to say goodbye to the Marvelous City is the Costa Firenze, which opens and closes the month passing through the terminal on the 1st, 04th, 07th, 15th and ending on the 17th.<\/p>

The month of April also features seven more ships. On the 4th it is MSC Fantasia\u2019s turn; day 5, MSC Musica; the 6th, Silver Cloud (which opened the season at Pier Mau\u00e1 on October 28, 2022); day 12, World Explorer; day 13, Celebrity Infinity; day 14 Costa Favolosa; day 16, MSC Preziosa.<\/p>

With 35 ships and approximately 400,000 tourists of different nationalities, Pier Mau\u00e1 closes the 2022\/2023 season that began on October 28 last year. During the period, the Pier received 24 international ships, 11 national ships and nine ships had their first stay in the city. There were 85 calls by national ships and 32 by international ships, with a total of 117 dockings.<\/p>

To ensure that the operation not only internal to the port but also external to the Olympic Boulevard area worked in the best possible way, Pier Mau\u00e1 could not fail to thank its partners such as the Municipal Guard, BPTUR, 5th BPM, DEAT, RJ City Hall, RioTur, CDURP, CDRJ, VLT, SMTR, CET RIO, CBMERJ, Centro Presente, among others.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The larger ships that transited Pier Mau\u00e1 were the highlights of this season, making it the biggest in the last 10 years, according to the Brazilian Cruise Ship Association (CLIA Brasil). They were: MSC Seashore, the largest cruise ship that was in Brazil with capacity for 7,077 people and was at Pier Mau\u00e1 on December 9, 2022 and March 27, 2023; the MSC Seaview, which has capacity for 6,842 people and carried out trips lasting three to seven nights, the first of which was on December 6, 2022 and the last passage through the terminal on March 10, 2023; the Costa Firenze, which was the largest ship in the history of Costa Cruises to come to South America. It passed through Pier Mau\u00e1 several times on trips lasting three to seven nights and ends the season on April 17, 2023. Its capacity is 6,538 people on board, including crew; and MSC Preziosa, which has capacity for 5,767 people. Twin of the ships MSC Fantasia, MSC Splendida and MSC Divina, the ship was at Pier Mau\u00e1 on December 30, 2022 for the end of year festivities, during Carnival, on February 19 and on April 16, 2023.<\/p>

In addition to these ships with exuberant capacity, other MSC vessels also passed through: the MSC Armonia, the MSC Musica, the MSC Fantasia and the MSC Preziosa and Costa Cruises: the Costa Fortuna and the Costa Favolosa.<\/p>

The international ones also came in full swing for this season: Arcadia, Celebrity Infinity, Aurora, Volendam, MS Marina, Balmoral, Viking Jupiter, Azamara Pursuit, Seven Seas Voyager, Seven Seas Mariner, MS Insignia, MS Hamburg, Europa, Silver Wind, Silver Cloud, Seabourn Venture, World Explorer, Ocean Explorer, Swan Hellenic \u2013 See.<\/p>

Several ships were anchored for the first time at Pier Mau\u00e1.
