The Shell Eco-marathon will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Brazil in 2026 and will return to Pier Mau\u00e1 in Rio de Janeiro from August 25 to 27, bringing together more than 500 students and over 50 teams from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. Free and open to the public, the event takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Armaz\u00e9m 4, and visitors can register in advance on the Shell website.<\/p>\n

One of the country's largest academic energy-efficiency competitions, the Shell Eco-marathon challenges students to design, build, and drive vehicles capable of traveling the greatest possible distance while using the least amount of energy.<\/p>\n

More than just a race on the track, the competition puts academic projects through real-world development and testing conditions. Students must integrate their knowledge of mechanics, electrical engineering, electronics, materials science, control systems, and energy management, transforming the theory they\u2019ve learned in the classroom into solutions for real-world mobility challenges.<\/p>\n

Three technologies on the track<\/b><\/p>\n

The vehicles compete in two categories. The Prototypes are ultralight and designed to achieve maximum energy efficiency. The Urban Concept models, on the other hand, have features more similar to those of commercial cars, such as a steering wheel, doors, and four wheels.<\/p>\n

Teams can choose from three energy sources: internal combustion (gasoline or ethanol); electric batteries; or hydrogen fuel cells. This diversity allows different solutions and efficiency strategies to be put to the test under the same conditions.<\/p>\n

For Denise Lima, director of Pier Mau\u00e1, the Shell Eco-marathon has a special quality. \u201cFew events physically transform the pier the way the Shell Eco-marathon does. For three days, our warehouses and outdoor area become a racetrack, workshop, and laboratory for hundreds of young people who are putting new possibilities for mobility to the test. It\u2019s very interesting to witness this transformation and welcome students from different countries, especially during this edition that celebrates the competition\u2019s 10th anniversary in Brazil,\u201d Denise points out.<\/p>\n

A Decade of Developing Talent<\/b><\/p>\n

The Shell Eco-marathon was officially launched in France in 1985, and today it brings together more than 5,000 students from over 50 countries each year.<\/p>\n

Throughout the competition, participants use the results obtained on the tracks to refine their designs, reduce vehicle weight, improve control systems, and find new ways to manage available energy.<\/p>\n

In Brazil, the competition has also become a bridge between academic education and the challenges faced by the industry. In addition to energy efficiency, students work on issues related to performance, reliability, safety, materials, and new propulsion technologies.<\/p>\n

As it marks its tenth anniversary in the country, the Shell Eco-marathon reinforces its role as a platform for experimentation and training a new generation of professionals to address the challenges of energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the future of mobility.<\/p>\n

Sabrina Brito has been invited to serve as curator of the Society 5.0 conference at the sixth edition of Rio Innovation Week, which will take place August 4\u20137 at Pier Mau\u00e1. She will oversee the programming for the Sociedade 5.0 stage on August 4, 5, and 6.<\/p>

From August 4 to 7, the terminal\u2019s warehouses will host the sixth edition of the event, which will bring together major national and international figures, about 2,000 startups, hundreds of exhibitors, 60 conferences, and approximately 40 stages, with an expected attendance of 180,000 people.<\/p>\n

Holding yet another edition at Pier Mau\u00e1 solidifies a partnership that has grown alongside RIW itself and reinforces the historic warehouses of the Port District\u2019s role as a venue for major national and international events. For four days, the venue transforms into a vast ecosystem of knowledge, business, culture, technology, and experiences.<\/p>\n

Big Names at Pier Mau\u00e1<\/b><\/p>\n

With the theme \u201cSymbiosis\u2014the future does not happen in isolation,\u201d RIW 2026 seeks to forge connections between different fields of knowledge to discuss the challenges of the present and the possibilities for the future.<\/p>\n

Among the confirmed speakers are Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai; Nobel Prize in Medicine laureate Edvard Moser; physicist Brian Greene; neuroscientist David Eagleman; astronomer and co-founder of the SETI Institute Jill Tarter; Supreme Federal Court Justice C\u00e1rmen L\u00facia; physicists Marcelo Gleiser and Paulo Artaxo; as well as Ailton Krenak, Djamila Ribeiro, Camila Farani, Regina Cas\u00e9, Bela Gil, Seu Jorge, and Z\u00e9lia Duncan.<\/p>\n

Art and creativity also feature prominently in the program, with names such as Vik Muniz, Beatriz Milhazes, and Ernesto Neto, reinforcing the event\u2019s multidisciplinary nature.<\/p>\n

Among the new features of this edition are the 1st RIW FGV Economic Forum, dedicated to the economic, technological, and geopolitical challenges affecting Brazil and the Southern Hemisphere; new spaces focused on literature and immersive technologies; and the expansion of the Startup Program, which will feature the participation of more than 50 venture capital firms.<\/p>\n

NAM Atl\u00e2ntico Returns to Pier Mau\u00e1
One of the major highlights of this year\u2019s event will once again be the NAM Atl\u00e2ntico, the largest warship in Latin America and the flagship of the Brazilian Navy. After welcoming more than 52,000 visitors during RIW 2025, the ship returns to the event with panel discussions, exhibits, technological experiences, and interactive activities.<\/p>\n

Visitors will also find immersive experiences throughout the event, including interactive installations that combine technology, light, sound, and collective participation.<\/p>\n

The Costa Diadema Brings Nearly 5,000 Tourists to Rio de Janeiro<\/b><\/p>\n

The cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1 has come to an end. The last ship to dock at the Rio de Janeiro port, this Monday (20) at 8 a.m., is the Costa Diadema, bringing nearly 5,000 tourists to Rio de Janeiro. This ship alone will inject R$ 3.8 million into Rio\u2019s coffers through tourism.<\/p>\n

The Season<\/b><\/p>\n

It began on October 11 with the Sc\u00e8nic Eclipse, and the last ship, as mentioned above, will arrive in the Marvelous City on April 20, 2026: the Costa Diadema. In total, there were 28 ships, 21 on international itineraries and seven on domestic routes, totaling 84 port calls. Of these, two docked at Pier Mau\u00e1 for the first time: the MS Vista and the Borealis. There were 57 port calls on Brazilian itineraries, 29 on international itineraries, and a total of 240,000 passengers, which injected $36 million into the city\u2014that is, approximately R$1.2 billion into Rio\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1 continues at a brisk pace. By the end of March, nine ships will have made nineteen port calls at the Rio de Janeiro port, bringing approximately 48,000 tourists to Rio de Janeiro\u2014which represents R$ 37 million injected into the city\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The last ships in March to dock at the pier will be the Sc\u00e9nic Eclipse, carrying 237 passengers, and the Europa 2, carrying 516, both of which will dock on Thursday (27), bringing the total to 753 passengers on this double-docking day; the Europa 2 will stay overnight and won\u2019t set sail until Friday (28) evening. On Saturday (28), it will be the MSC Fantasia\u2019s turn, arriving and disembarking 4,363 tourists in the Marvelous City.<\/p>\n

The cruise season in Rio began on October 11, 2025, with the arrival of the Sc\u00e8nic Eclipse\u2014which will return to Rio this week\u2014and ends on April 20 with the Costa Diadema. In total, there will be 28 cruise ships\u201421 on international itineraries and seven on domestic routes\u2014with 84 port calls. The forecast calls for 57 port calls with itineraries in Brazil, 29 with international itineraries, and a total of 240,000 visitors, generating R$ 193.3 million for the economy of the state capital of Rio. The MSC Seaview will carry the largest number of passengers: 5,429, calling at the city on April 12, 2026.<\/p>\n

First Time<\/b><\/p>\n

This season, two ships made their first-ever stops at the terminal, marking their first port of call in Rio de Janeiro: the MS Vista, which docked in Rio in January, and the Borealis, which stayed during Carnival in February.<\/p>\n

New at Pier Mau\u00e1: Warehouse 3 is open for events all season long!<\/b><\/p>\n

For the first time in its history, Pier Mau\u00e1 is dedicating an entire warehouse during the cruise ship season to hosting events: Warehouse 3, with 3,500 m\u00b2 and a spectacular view of Guanabara Bay and the Olympic Boulevard. This new initiative, which runs through April, has brought intense activity to the region, ensuring a steady flow of tourists and locals. Major events, such as Rio Innovation Week, Mondial de la Bi\u00e8re, and Rio Oil & Gas, have already taken place there. The highlights of 2026 include the Super Bowl LX Experience, an NFL event in Rio de Janeiro, which took place on February 8; and Rio Fashion Week, featuring 30 runway shows from April 15 to 18 of this year.<\/p>\n

Pier Mau\u00e1 Complex \u2013 a new culinary hub<\/b><\/p>\n

Another new feature this year at Pier Mau\u00e1 was the opening of the Pier Mau\u00e1 Complex in the Touring Building, managed by the Belmonte Group. The complex features four restaurants located in Pra\u00e7a Mau\u00e1, between the Museum of Tomorrow, the Rio Art Museum, and the Olympic Boulevard. The culinary hub also features a large-scale event venue dedicated to electronic music and featuring national and international DJs. The Pier Mau\u00e1 venue aims to become part of the city\u2019s major events circuit, offering a downtown alternative to events similar in scope to those held at Riocentro. For the industry, the initiative accelerates the revitalization of the port area.<\/p>\n

Engineering isn\u2019t just about concrete and calculations; it\u2019s the backbone of two-thirds of Brazil\u2019s GDP. With a focus on promoting and restoring the technical profession\u2019s leading role, the president of the Rio de Janeiro Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy (CREA-RJ), civil engineer Miguel Fern\u00e1ndez, announced the second edition of CREA AQUI for this Thursday (19), at Armaz\u00e9m 3 on Pier Mau\u00e1, in Rio\u2019s Port Zone. The event, which has already become a fixture on Rio de Janeiro\u2019s calendar and has established itself as the state\u2019s largest gathering of engineering, agronomy, and geosciences professionals, aims to surpass the 5,000-participant mark this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat motivated the creation of CREA AQUI was the need to organize an event focused on promoting major initiatives in the engineering, agronomy, and geosciences sectors in the state of Rio de Janeiro. This is a sector that has suffered greatly in recent years from attacks in the public eye, yet it is a fundamental sector, accounting for two-thirds of the country\u2019s GDP. It is the economy\u2019s main sector, driving social progress and protecting the environment. \u201dSo, without engineering and without a qualified and properly regulated agronomy sector, it is impossible for us to achieve economic, social, and environmental progress,\u201d argues Fern\u00e1ndez, who conceived CREA AQUI as a gathering focused on promoting a positive agenda for the engineering professions.<\/p>\n

\u201cCREA is often called upon when there\u2019s an accident or some kind of problem, and people ask, \u201cWhere is it? Where\u2019s the industry? Where\u2019s engineering? Where\u2019s CREA?\u2019 \u201dAnd we\u2019re very visible in those moments, but we also need to be visible in our moments of victory, of positive solutions,\u201d says the president of CREA.<\/p>\n

As it approaches its 92nd anniversary on June 5, the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Rio de Janeiro looks to the future and reinforces its role as an agent of change for the professions that drive the development of the State of Rio de Janeiro. This initiative takes shape in the second edition of CREA AQUI, an event designed to anticipate trends, foster connections, and make an impact in the fields of engineering, agronomy, and geosciences.<\/p>\n

Largest State-wide Engineering Conference<\/b><\/p>\n

CREA AQUI 2026 is establishing itself as a platform for ideas, partnerships, and possible futures. It is a space where technology, purpose, and strategic vision come together to strengthen the professions and expand their impact on society. One example of this is the VLT (Light Rail Vehicle), which is currently circulating through downtown Rio, wrapped in CREA AQUI advertising.<\/p>\n

The largest state-wide gathering of engineering, agronomy, and geosciences professionals, CREA AQUI has become a major networking event for professionals, business leaders, and state and municipal officials, who share ideas and projects offering solutions to the state\u2019s most pressing problems. The mega-event, which drew about 4,000 people in June of last year, served as a sort of one-day SOEA. SOEA stands for Official Week of Engineering and Agronomy, which has been held for eight decades, taking place each year in a different Brazilian state capital. And the formula is set to be repeated this year at Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>\n

According to Vinicius Marchese, president of the Federal Council of Engineering and Agronomy (CONFEA) and a telecommunications engineer, initiatives such as Crea Aqui strengthen the System\u2019s reach.<\/p>\n

\u201cCREA-RJ\u2019s leading role in organizing this major event is an example of the strength of our regional chapters in engaging with society. It is a forum for dialogue that values professional excellence and reaffirms Rio de Janeiro\u2019s long-standing commitment to technological development and the advancement of our profession,\u201d said Vin\u00edcius.<\/p>\n

Rio, the Capital of Engineering<\/b><\/p>\n

The SOEA atmosphere will also be evident because this edition of CREA AQUI is expected to feature the largest gathering of presidents of engineering councils. The presidents of 26 CREAs will be participating in the second meeting of the CONFEA\/CREA System Presidents\u2019 Council, which will be held at Pier Mau\u00e1 on March 18 and 19. The meeting was scheduled in Rio so that the CREA presidents could attend CREA AQUI, at the invitation of the host, Miguel Fern\u00e1ndez. For one day, Rio will become the capital of engineering.<\/p>\n

For the second time at the event, Cedae CEO Aguinaldo Ballon explains why it is important for the company to be there.<\/p>\n

Sinval Andrade, the institutional director of \u00c1guas do Rio, highlights the role of engineering in the pursuit of a better quality of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cCREA AQUI is an important venue for showcasing how engineering is directly linked to improving quality of life. At the \u00c1guas do Rio booth, we will present solutions that have been contributing to the restoration of Guanabara Bay. This effort has already removed approximately 130 million liters of sewage per day from the bay and has helped historically polluted beaches, such as Flamengo and Gl\u00f3ria, become increasingly suitable for swimming. \u201dIt is also an opportunity to engage the public, since the Bay\u2019s recovery depends on collective effort and the participation of society as a whole,\u201d says Sinval, director of the Aegea company.<\/p>\n

Among the speakers who have already confirmed their attendance is engineer and scientist Silvio Meira. He is an electrical engineer, chief scientist, and founder of TDS Company. Meira will speak about professional entrepreneurship in the technology sector.<\/p>\n

Panels Discuss the Development and Importance of Agronomy<\/b><\/p>\n

The event will feature two major panel discussions. The first will address the development of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Participants will include the president of the Federal Council of Engineering and Agronomy (Confea), Vinicius Marchese; Francis Bogossian, president of the Engineering Club; Celso Cunha, president of Abdan (Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities); and Suzana Kahn, director of Coppe\/UFRJ.<\/p>\n

The second panel will highlight the importance of agronomy in a way rarely seen at CREA-RJ. Moderated by agronomist Felipe Brasil, Rio de Janeiro\u2019s State Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (SEAPA), the panel is titled \u201cAgronomy in Flavors\u2014Science You Can Taste.\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Carnival Saturday (the 14th) alone, four ships will be docked at Rio's international cruise port<\/b><\/p>\n

Carnival will bring 40,000 tourists to Pier Mau\u00e1 on eleven ships, with eighteen scheduled dockings, including the Borealis, which is making its debut in Rio\u2019s waters and will remain in port for three days. All this activity is expected to inject more than R$ 31.5 million into Rio\u2019s economy during the city\u2019s main days of revelry, which run from Friday (February 13) through the Saturday after Carnival, featuring a parade of the champion samba schools at the Samb\u00f3dromo (February 21).<\/p>\n

On Friday (the 13th), three cruise ships will dock at Pier Mau\u00e1: the Costa Favolosa, at 7 a.m., with 3,780 people on board; Silver Whisper, at 8 a.m., which will remain in Rio until Carnival Monday (the 16th), carrying 466 passengers; and the aforementioned Borealis, with 1,685 tourists, which arrives at 6 p.m. and stays until 7 p.m. on Carnival Sunday (the 15th).<\/p>\n

On Saturday (the 14th), the MSC Armonia will arrive at 8 a.m., carrying 2,680 passengers, and the Sapphire Princess will arrive at 9 a.m., carrying 2,670 tourists. As a result, four giant cruise ships will be docked at Pier Mau\u00e1 on Saturday, the 14th, during Carnival alone.<\/p>\n

On Sunday (the 15th), at 1:00 p.m., the MV Pacific World will dock with 2,419 passengers to join the Sapphire Princess at Pier Mau\u00e1, and on what is known as \u201cFat Monday\u201d during Carnival (the 16th), the Aidamar will arrive at 11 a.m., bringing 2,686 tourists\u2014making it the third ship to dock at the port on that date.<\/p>\n

The event, featuring a live broadcast of the American football championship game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, will bring together fans of the NFL from seven countries across three continents, including Brazil, for a variety of activities.<\/p>\n

The event will serve as a great venue for fans to watch one of the biggest sporting events on the planet together. The lineup includes the prestigious halftime show, which this year will feature Bad Bunny. Tickets are limited and available for purchase on the Ticketmaster website.<\/p>\n

In addition to the game being shown on big screens, the event will feature NFL-themed activities, interactive experiences, musical performances, food options, and a store selling official merchandise. Four teams will be represented at the event: the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and Philadelphia Eagles, which will host fan-focused activities.<\/p>\n

The NFL will hold simultaneous Experience events in seven countries: Brazil, Australia, Germany, Canada, Spain, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. This is part of a global initiative by the league that reinforces its strategy for international expansion of the product.<\/p>\n

Brazil is currently the second-largest market outside the United States, with more than 36 million fans, and has an official office of the organization. The Pier Mau\u00e1 complex, which manages the Rio de Janeiro International Cruise Terminal and a 50,000-square-meter area that includes the Touring Building, Espa\u00e7o Mau\u00e1, five 19th-century warehouses\u2014each measuring 3,500 m\u00b2\u2014and an outdoor area of 8,500 m\u00b2, will be home to Rio de Janeiro\u2019s newest culinary hub. The project, which will open on the 24th (Saturday), is a venture of the Belmonte Group and will feature four restaurants located in the Touring Building, situated in Pra\u00e7a Mau\u00e1 between the Museum of Tomorrow, the Rio Art Museum, and the Olympic Boulevard.<\/p>

The cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1 is in full swing, and in January, ten ships will make 22 port calls at the Rio de Janeiro port, bringing around 60,000 tourists to Rio de Janeiro and injecting R$ 48.6 million into the city\u2019s economy. The highlight of the month is the 22nd, when three cruise ships will be at Pier Mau\u00e1: the MS Marina, which docks on the 21st and stays until the 22nd, bringing 1,258 passengers; the Aurora, with 2,258 crew members; and the MSC Sinfonia, with 2,626 people, totaling more than 6,000 tourists aboard the ships on that date.<\/p>\n

Ships began docking on October 11, 2025, starting with the Sc\u00e8nic Eclipse, and the last one\u2014the Costa Diadema\u2014will arrive in the Marvelous City on April 20, 2026. In all, there will be 28 giant cruise ships, 21 on international itineraries and seven on domestic routes, with 84 port calls. The forecast calls for 57 port calls with itineraries in Brazil, 29 with international itineraries, and a total of 240,000 visitors, generating R$ 193.3 million for the economy of the state capital of Rio. The MSC Seaview will carry the largest number of passengers: 5,429, calling at the city on April 12, 2026.<\/p>\n

February 2026, in fact, will be the month with the highest number of ship calls this season: 19.<\/p>\n

The MSC Seaview, along with the Costa Diadema, also fulfilled the mission of providing accommodations for COP30 participants in Bel\u00e9m, Par\u00e1, between November and December 2025. Both ships were contracted by the federal government to meet the high demand for accommodations, offering approximately 3,900 cabins with a capacity for up to 6,000 people.<\/p>\n

Highlights<\/b><\/p>\n

This season, two ships will be new attractions at the terminal, making their first port call in Rio de Janeiro and promising to bring new experiences and options for visitors: the MS Vista, which will be in Rio this month (Jan. 23), and the previously mentioned Borealis. Among the coastal cruise ships that will pass through Rio, the MSC Armonia, the MSC Seaview, and the Costa Favolosa make regular stops. This new addition comes in the midst of the cruise season, which brings intense activity to the region between October and April, ensuring a steady flow of tourists and locals. A special docking will take place at Pier Mau\u00e1 this Thursday (the 8th) at 7 a.m., and the ship will remain in Rio until January 15: the Chinese hospital ship Ark Silk Road (Peace Ark class). It is a large medical vessel belonging to the Chinese People\u2019s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, part of the \u201cMission Harmony 2025\u201d humanitarian mission, which provides free medical care (outpatient care, surgeries, and dental care) and promotes professional exchanges during visits to countries such as Jamaica, Barbados, and Nicaragua, sparking geopolitical debates about China\u2019s influence around the world. The ship is 178 meters long, 24 meters wide, 35.5 meters high, and displaces 14,300 metric tons at a speed of 20 knots.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Asian vessel, two luxury cruise ships operated by MSC\u2014the Fantasia and the Sinfonia\u2014will arrive at the Rio de Janeiro port on the same date (at 8 and 9 a.m.), bringing 7,000 tourists to the \u201cMarvelous City.\u201d.<\/p>\n

MSC Fantasia<\/b><\/p>\n

During its 2025\/2026 season in South America, the MSC Fantasia will offer itineraries departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, offering eight-, nine-, and ten-night cruises that visit Ilhabela, S\u00e3o Paulo; Balne\u00e1rio Cambori\u00fa, Santa Catarina; and Montevideo, Uruguay, carrying 4,363 passengers on board. The ship boasts a robust layout, featuring attractions such as the L\u2019Avanguardia Theater, with Broadway-style shows and live music by international artists; the Casin\u00f2 delle Palme; the Liquid Disco, a panoramic nightclub; a Formula 1 racing simulator; a 4D movie theater with sensory effects; boutiques, bars, restaurants, and themed lounges; and an entertainment area featuring a pool complex, a gym, a spa, tennis and basketball courts, mini-golf, and a running track, as well as a Kids\u201c area. With a capacity of 2,680 passengers, the MSC Sinfonia is a ship in the so-called \u201cLyric Class.\u201d The vessel stands out for its more intimate and classic atmosphere and has recently undergone a renovation to modernize and expand its facilities. It\u2019s ideal for those seeking a more relaxed cruise experience, with shorter lines and an elegant atmosphere. It features swimming pools, a luxurious theater with Broadway-style shows, a casino, a nightclub, and a game room. In terms of dining, the ship offers restaurants specializing in Mediterranean cuisine, a buffet, and themed bars (a Scottish pub, an American lounge, a piano bar, and a caf\u00e9). In terms of leisure, the Sinfonia features a spa with massages, a sauna, beauty treatments, and a hair salon; a fitness center with ocean views; a walking track; mini-golf; a multi-sport court; and areas for children as well as teenagers. Summer is coming, the most anticipated time of the year in Rio de Janeiro! Along with the season comes the start of the cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1. The ships start docking this Saturday (11\/10) and the last one arrives in the Marvelous City on 20\/04\/2026. There will be a total of 28 giants, 21 with foreign itineraries and seven with national routes, with 84 berths. Of these, two will dock at Pier Mau\u00e1 for the first time. On a night marked by tributes, music and special performances, the Krooze Awards, known as the Oscars of the Seas, celebrated the companies, destinations and ships that stood out in the 2024\/2025 season. Pier Mau\u00e1 stood out at the awards and won the trophy in the following categories Best Port of Embarkation<\/strong> It is Best Stopover of the Brazilian Season (Rio de Janeiro)<\/strong>.<\/p>

Promoted by Krooze, the largest cruise ecosystem in Latin America, the award honored 38 winners in 16 categories from different segments of the cruise industry, seven more than in 2024. In its second edition, the Krooze Awards brought new features. About the cruise season<\/strong><\/p>

The cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1 began on October 11, with the Scenic Eclipse, and the last ship will arrive in the Marvelous City on April 20, 2026: the Costa Diadema. Celebrity Equinox is a Solstice-class cruise ship from Celebrity Cruises, completely renovated in 2019. It is known for its gastronomic options, with ten different restaurants, such as the Ocean View Caf\u00e9 buffet and themed spaces, as well as leisure areas such as the Lawn Club, which has real grass, and the spa. The ship also offers a casino, theater and jacuzzis for passengers' comfort.<\/p>

The MSC Fantasia, in its 2025\/2026 season in South America, will have itineraries departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with cruises of eight, nine and ten nights, visiting destinations such as Ilhabela (SP) and Balne\u00e1rio Cambori\u00fa (SC), as well as Montevideo, Uruguay. Event to return to Rio de Janeiro's calendar after ten-year hiatus<\/strong><\/p>

In 2026, Rio de Janeiro will once again have a fashion week. After a hiatus of around ten years, the former Fashion Rio will return to the city's calendar under a new name: Rio Fashion Week<\/strong>. The announcement was made this week during a presentation at the Pal\u00e1cio da Cidade, one of the headquarters of Rio's City Hall, in Botafogo, in the South Zone of the capital.<\/p>

The first edition of this new phase already has dates and an address: from April 15-18, 2026<\/strong>, with about 30 parades<\/strong> at the Pier Mau\u00e1<\/strong>, in the central region of the city. The proposal is to put Rio back on the fashion circuit and attract the attention of the national and international market.<\/p>

The first ship to bid farewell to the Rio de Janeiro season this month will be the Costa Favolosa, which arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 on the 1st and begins its return trip to Europe. The exciting transatlantic crossing includes stops in Recife, Mindelo (Cape Verde), Las Palmas, Casablanca (Morocco), Barcelona, Marseille and finally Savona, where it will arrive on April 18, 2025.<\/p>

Then, on the 2nd, the luxurious Scenic Eclipse arrives and will remain at Pier Mau\u00e1 until the 3rd. Considered the world's first discovery yacht, this 6-star ship offers its passengers an exclusive experience. Before leaving for Malaga, Spain, the ship will also explore other Brazilian destinations, offering a special farewell to the country.<\/p>

On April 4, the MS Marina docks at Pier Mau\u00e1 and stays there until April 5, where it will begin a 26-night cruise, passing through some of Brazil's main destinations, such as B\u00fazios, Salvador, Macei\u00f3 and Recife. The ship then heads to Europe, visiting countries such as Spain and Portugal, before arriving at its final destination: the charming city of Lisbon.<\/p>

On December 6, the majestic MSC Grandiosa docks at Pier Mau\u00e1, bringing with it more than 6,000 tourists eager to explore the city. In the country since December, the ship has been making weekly cruises through the Northeast and Southeast regions, offering passengers a unique and memorable experience. The MSC Grandiosa had its second Brazilian season in 2024\/2025.<\/p>

The MSC Poesia docks on the 7th and marks another stop on its journey through Brazil. Since the end of November, the ship has regularly visited Brazilian ports, and is now preparing for its crossing to Europe. Before crossing the Atlantic, the ship will still make stops in Ilh\u00e9us, Salvador and Fortaleza, offering passengers one last opportunity to enjoy the beauty and culture of Brazil.<\/p>

More than 65,000 tourists are expected in March<\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0<\/strong>Pier Mau\u00e1 was the scene of an unforgettable carnival, welcoming thousands of revelers and happy people in the midst of the liveliest party of the year. There were 20,000 tourists passing through! And even though the cruise season is almost over, traffic is still intense at the terminal. From March 9 to 31, around 45,000 tourists are expected. Throughout the month, more than 65,000 tourists are expected to pass through the terminal.<\/p>

As of March 9, there will be 15 berths, coming from 11 ships, one of which, the Villa Vie Odyssey, came to Rio for the first time and brought forward its stay to March 4, making it the ship that has stayed the longest at the terminal this season. The other ships passing through the terminal are: Seven Seas Splendor, Costa Favolosa, Msc Seaview, Msc Poesia, Norwegian Star, Volendam, Msc Splendida, Viking Jupiter, Msc Orchestra and Costa Pacifica, the latter two making their final stops in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

During their stay at Pier Mau\u00e1, passengers have access to a wide range of activities, such as guided tours of the city, tours of Porto Maravilha, Yupi Star, AquaRio and various shopping options inside and outside the terminal. Pier Mau\u00e1 is ready to receive a large number of tourists during Carnival! Between March 1st and 5th, the international cruise terminal expects to receive more than 20,000 passengers, as well as 30% of crew.<\/p>

They will come aboard nine incredible ships, including the MSC Seaview, the Silver Ray (coming to Rio de Janeiro for the first time), the Ocean Fuji, the Azamara Journey, the MSC Orchestra, the MSC Armonia, the Crystal Serenity, the MSC Poesia and the Costa Favolosa. In addition, some of these ships will spend several days at Pier Mau\u00e1 during the period, such as the Silver Ray and Crystal Serenity, which will stay for four days; the Azamara Journey, which will stay for three days; the Ocean Fuji and MSC Poesia for two days and the others for just one day.<\/p>

On Sunday and Monday of Carnival, Pier Mau\u00e1 will have five giant ships docked. It will be a real party of ships and tourists there!<\/p>

This massive movement turns Pier Mau\u00e1 into the epicenter of the party, where tourists can play Carnival in the surrounding area or even go to Sapuca\u00ed.<\/p>

And throughout March, the terminal expects to welcome more than 65,000 tourists.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1's structure<\/strong><\/p>

The Pier Mau\u00e1 terminal has a modern, well-equipped structure and offers fast check-in and boarding areas; easy access for passengers; stores and last-minute services, among other amenities.<\/p>

With the arrival of the ships, Pier Mau\u00e1 is reaffirming its role as one of the main cruise destinations in Latin America, ready to welcome tourists in search of adventure and leisure. With everyone's safety in mind, the concessionaire has worked tirelessly in recent months to improve security at the terminal, a space that hosts large-scale events and an intense flow of people during the ship season.<\/p>

A series of significant improvements and investments have been made in port security. Among the main investments made are the CCTV monitoring system with new software; computerized access control using turnstiles and card readers; perimeter alarm using infrared sensors; siren with audio for the emergency control system; modernization of the guardhouses; construction of a new reception; fencing of the water castles, as well as the acquisition of security equipment and software.<\/p>

For the best boarding for those coming by taxi or transport app, passengers should get off at Av. Venezuela and Rua Souza Lima. For those coming by car, the nearest 24-hour parking lot is \u201cParking Pier Mau\u00e1\u201d, with a car entrance between Bar\u00e3o de Tef\u00e9 and Souza Lima, and pedestrian access on the Olympic Boulevard, almost at Armaz\u00e9m 4.<\/p>

More than 43,000 tourists are expected in the city during this period, with the 21st and 25th being the busiest days<\/strong><\/p>

The second half of January will be marked by intense cruise ship traffic at Pier Mau\u00e1, with 16 berths scheduled between the 16th and 30th. During this period, 12 imposing ships will bring more than 43,000 tourists to the city.<\/p>

The 18th, 19th, 24th and 27th will have two simultaneous vessels, while the 21st and 25th will have four and five ships respectively. For the whole month of January, more than 75,000 tourists are expected, not counting the crew.<\/p>

Several cruise ships will be calling at Pier Mau\u00e1 during the second half of January. The Costa Favolosa, which arrives on the 16th, returns on the 24th, offering passengers a unique experience. In addition, the Costa Pac\u00edfica and the Seven Seas Splendor arrive on the 18th, with the Seven Seas Splendor staying until the 19th, when the MSC Orchestra will also be present.<\/p>

On the 21st, Pier Mau\u00e1 will have four ships at the same time: MSC Poesia, MSC Magnifica, MV Pacific World and Bolete (arriving on the 20th). There will be more than 8,500 tourists that day.<\/p>

On the 24th, the luxurious Seven Seas Mariner arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 to join the Costa Favolosa. After a night in town, the Seven Seas Mariner stays until the 25th, when the terminal becomes a real meeting point for cruise ships. Five ships - Costa Pac\u00edfica, MS Marina (which stays until the 27th), MSC Seaview, MSC Orchestra and Seven Seas Mariner - will attract more than 15,000 people to the terminal.<\/p>

The MS Insignia arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 on the 26th, bringing new tourists to explore the city. After a short stay, the ship leaves on the 27th for Montevideo. On the penultimate day of the month, the 30th, the MSC Poesia returns to the terminal to embark on another exciting voyage.<\/p>

Six ships dock at the terminal, most notably the luxurious Majestic Princess<\/strong><\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 will welcome six cruise ships between January 3rd and 15th, attracting more than 33,000 tourists. There will be simultaneous moorings on January 8, with three ships, and on January 11, with two. During this period, the giants of the seas passing through the terminal are: MSC Poesia (03 and 12\/01), Costa Pac\u00edfica (04 and 11\/01), MSC Orchestra (05, 08 and 11\/01), Majestic Princess (07 to 08\/01), Costa Favolosa (08\/01 and MS Artania (13 to 15\/01).<\/p>

The highlight of this fortnight is the Majestic Princess, which makes its debut at Pier Mau\u00e1, staying overnight from January 7 to 8. Operated by Princess Cruises, the Majestic Princess is the third ship in a series of ships known as the Royal Class. Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, it began operating in March 2017 and was initially dedicated to cruises in China. It was also the first in the Princess Cruises fleet to feature a stylized version of the company's logo, known as the Sea Witch, on its hull.\u00a0<\/p>

Considered a large ship, it has capacity for more than 4,000 passengers at maximum occupancy and offers premium cruises aimed at an international audience.\u00a0<\/p>

In the 2024\/2025 season, on its debut in Brazil, the Majestic Princess will make two cruises, visiting destinations such as Santos and Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

The MS Artania, which is staying overnight from January 13 to 15, is a ship with a history. Owned by Phoenix Reisen since 2011, it has operated in other passenger ship fleets. It was inaugurated by Princess Diana of England while it belonged to a British company in 1984. At 231 meters long and 29 meters wide, the ship can accommodate up to 1,200 passengers.<\/p>

For the second fortnight, more than 39,000 passengers on board eight ships are expected to pass through to enjoy the beauty of Rio. During the end-of-year festivities (from December 25 to 31), the flow of people is expected to exceed 22,000 at Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>

The concessionaire informs cruisers that for the best boarding for those coming by taxi or transport app, they should get off at Av. Venezuela and Rua Souza Lima. Pier Mau\u00e1, located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, is gearing up for a busy December, with around 74,000 tourists expected throughout the month. There will be nine ships, totaling 20 berths. During the holiday season (December 25-31), more than 22,000 tourists are expected to pass through the terminal.<\/p>

For the first half of December, between the 1st and 14th, around 35,000 tourists are expected on board five MSC and Costa Cruises ships.<\/p>

The MSC Poesia, known for its elegant facilities and a variety of entertainment and dining options, will be at the Pier on December 1st and 9th. With its sophisticated design and comfortable accommodation, the ship is ideal for those looking for a complete experience at sea.<\/p>

On the 2nd, the Costa Favolosa docks at Pier Mau\u00e1. This Costa Cruises ship is famous for its opulent style and numerous leisure options. Offering a memorable experience, it has several entertainment areas and restaurants, which bring the best of Italian cuisine.<\/p>

The MSC Orchestra arrives on December 3 and returns on December 6, 9 and 14. The month of November at Pier Mau\u00e1 begins with the arrival of a variety of cruise ships that will bring visitors from all over the world. There will be five international ships, one for the first time in Rio de Janeiro; two MSC ships, the Seaview and the Orchestra and one from Costa, the Pacifica, bringing a total of more than 20,000 tourists this month alone.<\/p>

The Viking Jupiter docks on November 3 from Recife with 930 passengers. Built in Italy and launched in 2019, it is a luxury cruise ship belonging to Viking Ocean Cruises and is one of the most recent ships in its fleet, with a Scandinavian-inspired design. Its purpose is to offer a more intimate experience compared to larger vessels.<\/p>

Also arriving on the 3rd, the Seabourn Venture, an ultra-luxurious expedition ship built for ice itineraries and fascinating, remote places, will stay at the terminal until the 5th. The ship has capacity for 264 passengers.<\/p>

The Seaview, also known as The Giant of the Seas, with its capacity for 5429 passengers, will be the attraction on the 07th. As one of the most modern ocean liners in the world, it offers all kinds of recreational facilities, from a high-tech theater, disco and casino to life-size bowling alleys, a multi-level interactive water park and an adventure trail, not to mention children's play areas.<\/p>

On August 8, Aidasol, the eighth ship in the AIDA fleet, inaugurated in 2011, arrives in the Marvelous City. A round-the-world cruise ship from the German company AIDA Cruises, it is 252 meters long and holds a total of 3,000 people. It offers cruises to a variety of interesting destinations with incredible accommodation and attractions for all tastes. It is the second ship to spend the night at Pier Mau\u00e1 this season, departing on November 9.<\/p>

Having made its maiden voyage in April 2022, the elegant boutique ship Swan Hellenic Vega returns to Rio de Janeiro on the 10th, this time with passengers numbering around 158. The expedition ship was designed to travel to unusual destinations and remote polar regions in style and comfort.<\/p>

On November 21, the Costa Pac\u00edfica arrives from Salvador. The ship has a music theme and its infrastructure is capable of accommodating 3,780 passengers. It includes a spa, four swimming pools, five jacuzzis, a virtual reality area, five restaurants, a theater, a casino and a disco. It also has a program of more than 280 shows and parties throughout the season.<\/p>

The highlight of the month is the Sapphire Princess, a ship that will be visiting the city for the first time, arriving on November 25 and departing on November 26. It's a cruise ship owned by Princess Cruises that entered service in 2004 as the sister ship of the Diamond Princess. At the time it was one of the largest cruise ships in the world, with a capacity for 2,670 passengers and is the second Gem-class ship built by Princess Cruises.<\/p>

At the end of November, the MSC Orchestra docks on the 30th. It has five restaurants, 12 bars, a casino, nightclub and theater. For exercise and leisure, there is a sports court, mini golf, beauty salon, spa, three swimming pools and four jacuzzis. For children, there is an area with LEGO and Chicco toys and a children's entertainment program.<\/p>

With everyone's safety in mind, the concessionaire has worked tirelessly in recent months to improve security at the terminal, a space that hosts large-scale events and an intense flow of people during the ship season.<\/p>

A series of significant improvements and investments have been made in port security. Among the main investments made are the CCTV monitoring system with new software; computerized access control using turnstiles and card readers; perimeter alarm using infrared sensors; siren with audio for the emergency control system; modernization of the guardhouses; construction of a new reception; fencing of the water castles, as well as the acquisition of security equipment and software.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 is preparing for another cruise season in 2024\/2025, which begins on October 27, Sunday, at 8 a.m., with the arrival of the international ship World Navigator, bringing 200 passengers. The terminal has established itself as one of Brazil's main port destinations. This year, the port of Rio will welcome 37 different ships, with a total of 107 berths. The number of tourists expected to pass through Pier Mau\u00e1 is expected to reach 323,000.<\/p>

This season, Pier Mau\u00e1 will see the arrival of 26 international and 11 national ships, five of which will be new attractions at the terminal, promising new experiences and options for visitors. Among the cabotage ships that will pass through Rio, the MSC Seaview, MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra, Costa Favolosa and Costa Pacifica will make regular calls. With the exception of the Poesia and the Seaview, all of them also embark and disembark passengers at Pier Mau\u00e1.<\/p>

The largest cruise ship ever to sail in Brazil is also returning to Rio de Janeiro this season. With two stopovers, the MSC Grandiosa will pass through the city on December 5, 2024 and April 6, 2025. Carnival will also be very busy; on Sunday and Monday, the Pier will see five ships, and on Tuesday, four.<\/p>

For this season, warehouse 5, used for luggage, has been completely renovated and air-conditioned, providing greater comfort and efficiency in passenger service, guaranteeing an even more pleasant and safe experience for tourists disembarking in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

Highlights of this season<\/strong><\/p>

In the 2024\/2025 season, one of the main attractions will be the wide variety of ships passing through Pier Mau\u00e1. Among them will be expedition, luxury and international vessels, including two Princess Cruises ships. After approximately five years away from Brazil, the company is returning to Pier Mau\u00e1 with the Sapphire Princess and the Majestic Princess. Both are large ships and will make their debut in Rio de Janeiro, with overnight stops at the end of November and beginning of January, respectively.<\/p>

In February, Cunard Line will also return to Pier Mau\u00e1 after five years. With a history of 190 years, this renowned British company will bring the Queen Victoria, which has a capacity of around 2,500 passengers.<\/p>

Another attraction of the season in Rio de Janeiro are the round-the-world cruises. Among the ships that will pass through the city on these routes are the MSC Magnifica, the Costa Deliziosa, the Villa Vie Odyssey, the Crystal Serenity, the Vasco da Gama, the Volendam, the Pacific World and the Insignia.<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 will also welcome Silversea's new Silver Ray. This ship, which operates high-end cruises, is considered one of the most luxurious in the world, with a design focused on sustainability.<\/p>

The season also marks the return of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines to Brazil. After years of absence, the company will bring the Bolette, one of its newest ships, to Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

Considered the longest in the last ten years, the 2023\/2024 season registered 37 ships and 119 berths, where the port of Rio welcomed a total of 467,986 passengers, between embarkations, disembarkations and transit.<\/p>

Around 16 thousand tourists are expected during this period and<\/strong>\u00a0four ships will be docked simultaneously on the 11th and 12th of February and three on the 10th<\/strong><\/p>

The month of February is about to transform Pier Mau\u00e1 into a vibrant scene with a parade of beautiful ships. 24 dockings are scheduled throughout the month, 11 ships, including three debutants. The expectation is to receive around 84 thousand tourists passing through Pier Mau\u00e1 throughout the month. In the week leading up to Carnival, approximately 18 thousand tourists will pass through the terminal, while in the week of Carnival this average will be 16 thousand tourists who can inject more than US$ 4 million (R$ 19 million) into the city's economy.<\/p>

Anticipating the festivities, the week preceding Carnival will be marked by the arrival of five ships, with emphasis on the simultaneous presence of two ships on February 4th. On the 3rd Costa Diadema arrives; on the 4th, the Seaview and the debut of the Ambition in the port of Rio. On the 6th it is the turn of the MSC Musica and on the 7th the Costa Fascinosa gives the air of grace.<\/p>

During the busy carnival period, from February 10th to 13th (Saturday to Tuesday), Pier Mau\u00e1 prepares even more for the arrival of seven ships, distributed throughout the festive days. On the 10th, three vessels bring even more energy to the carnival atmosphere: the international The World, the MSC Seaview and the Costa Diadema.<\/p>

Four ships will be docked simultaneously on the 11th. In addition to The World, which will remain until the 13th, the arrival of Azamara Quest, MSC Armonia and the debutant MV Pacific World is expected.<\/p>

On the 12th it is the turn of another newcomer, the Silver Nova, to join The World, Azamara Quest, MV Pacific World, again totaling four ships in the terminal. Silver Nova will remain at Pier Mau\u00e1 until February 15th.<\/p>

One fact that draws attention is ships staying overnight at the terminal for several days. Marcello Chagas, operations manager at Pier Mau\u00e1, highlights this trend:<\/p>

\u201cWe are observing a growing interest in alternative tourist routes, which has attracted international vessels, some of them planning stays for longer periods, as we can see during the carnival period. This trend reflects the intention of cruise ships to enjoy the opportunities that Brazil, and especially Rio de Janeiro, provide for a longer period of time\u201d, comments Marcello.<\/p>

Prioritizing safety and well-being at Pier Mau\u00e1<\/strong><\/p>

In order to guarantee the adequate internal and external functioning of the port, the Tourist Policing Battalion (BPTur) of the Military Police, with the support of the State Tourist Security Council (CONSETUR), maintains a mobile post between warehouses 3 and 4 throughout the season. The team is reinforced to provide passengers with a smooth and comfortable experience as they go out to enjoy the parade, enjoy the blocks and return to the terminal without any setbacks. There is comprehensive planning involving several municipal bodies that have been long-time partners: Municipal Guard, BPTUR, 5th BPM, DEAT, RJ City Hall, RioTur, Centro Presente, CDURP, CDRJ, VLT, SMTR, CET RIO, CBMERJ, among others .<\/p>

Pier Mau\u00e1 will have an intense movement of ships and tourists between the 17th and 31st of December due to the arrivals and departures of several vessels, with an average of 57 thousand tourists passing through the place during this period. In total, 13 dockings are planned across nine ships, three of which are international and one for the first time at the terminal. Some dates will have ships docked simultaneously, such as the 17th, 19th, 22nd and 25th with two ships and the 31st with four ships.<\/p>

The stars of the second fortnight<\/strong><\/p>

On the 17th, Pier Mau\u00e1 has two moorings, both scheduled to arrive at 7am. MSC Musica arriving from Ilha Bela and MSC Seaview arriving from B\u00fazios. On that day alone, there are around 20,000 people at the terminal.<\/p>

Two dockings also take place on the 19th with the Costa Diadema coming from Santos and the MSC Armonia coming from B\u00fazios. Both coming in the morning.<\/p>

The international Europa 2 arrives from Salvador on the 20th, around 5pm and remains at Pier Mau\u00e1 until the 22nd, 6pm, heading to Itaja\u00ed. With the foreign ship already docked, on the 22nd there will also be two ships, as the Costa Fascinosa arrives from Buenos Aires around 12pm and leaves for Ilha Bela at 10pm.<\/p>

On the 23rd it is Seaview's turn to return again from Ilha Bela bound for Buenos Aires.<\/p>

At Christmas, December 25th, two more vessels will be docked at the terminal. They are MSC Musica and Costa Diadema.<\/p>

The first days of December promise to stir up the waters of Rio de Janeiro, at Pier Mau\u00e1, with the imposing presence of cruise ships that delight tourists and locals. From December 1st to 12th, the terminal will have eight dockings with six ships, three of which are international: Viking Jupiter, Azamara Quest and Norwegian Star. The movement of travelers will be intense, as it is estimated that more than 27 thousand people will transit the terminal during this period.<\/p>

The first ship of December arrives on the 1st, the Viking Jupiter, with capacity for 930 passengers. It is known for offering luxurious and exploratory cruise experiences and is part of the \u201cViking Ocean Cruises\u201d class, which is recognized for its elegance, attention to detail, and itineraries that explore diverse destinations around the world.<\/p>

On the 4th it is the turn of the Costa Fascinosa, the second Costa Cruises ship to dock at Pier Mau\u00e1 this season. With embarkations in Rio de Janeiro, Fascinosa will make international cruises of seven to nine nights to B\u00fazios (RJ), Ilha Grande (RJ), Ilhabela (SP), Balne\u00e1rio Cambori\u00fa (SC), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina) .<\/p>

December 5th will be the first day of this season to feature two ships docked simultaneously: the Azamara Quest, a luxurious vessel from Amazara Club Cruises, with capacity for 781 guests, and the MSC Seaview, which has already been here in the 2022 season. \/2023 and continues to be one of the most modern in the fleet. It alone will move 10,000 tourists per stay at Pier Mau\u00e1, as it will embark and disembark in Rio de Janeiro! It also returns on December 8th and 11th.<\/p>

MSC Seaview was designed to provide guests with a unique connection to the sea. The ship also has 6 and 7 night itineraries with visits to B\u00fazios, Salvador and Ilh\u00e9us, and 8 nights with stops in Buenos Aires, Punta Del Leste and Montevideo.<\/p>

The largest ship in history to sail in Brazilian waters, the MSC Grandiosa, arrives at Pier Mau\u00e1 this Thursday (23), scheduled to dock at 8am, and has capacity for more than six thousand passengers on board! The vessel is 331 meters long and 75 meters high.<\/p>

The ship left Europe (Civitavecchia, Italy) on November 4th, when it began its Atlantic crossing towards the country. Lasting 21 nights, the complete itinerary ends in the Port of Santos, on the 25th. Before that, however, it passes through several destinations in Europe, the Atlantic and also in Brazil.<\/p>

Among the ports visited is Genoa, in Italy, where passengers also board, as well as Macei\u00f3. The capital of Alagoas was the first national stop of MSC Grandiosa, on the 19th of this month.<\/p>

From November 26th, the ship offers a series of weekly cruises along the national coast that include stops in the states of S\u00e3o Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and Alagoas. With embarkations in Santos, Salvador and Macei\u00f3, MSC Grandiosa continues in Brazil until the end of March 2024.<\/p>

From November 26th, Costa Favolosa marks the start of Costa Cruzeiros' 2023\/2024 Brazilian season at Pier Mau\u00e1. The ship began its journey towards Brazil departing from Savona, Italy, on November 9th. With decor inspired by fairy tales, the ship offers mini-cruises in Brazil, as well as weekly trips to Argentina and Uruguay. With more than 6,000 sculptures and works of art inside, the ship has spaces such as the Camelot Piano Bar, inspired by King Arthur's court, and the El Dorado Casino, influenced by the city of solid gold from indigenous legend. She is a modified version of the original Concordia class ships, she has only one identical twin: the Costa Fascinosa.<\/p>

Last days of November with MSC ships<\/strong><\/h4>

On the 29th, MSC Lirica arrives with its fascinating story. Initially built in 2003, the ship underwent an expansion in 2015, gaining new cabins and spaces. Aimed at travelers from the south of the country, it offers seven-night itineraries, departing from Itaja\u00ed, in Santa Catarina, and exploring destinations such as Punta Del Este, Buenos Aires and Ilhabela. It is the third ship of the Brazilian season departing from Europe.<\/p>

MSC Lirica offers a differentiated cruise experience, focused on elegance, comfort and hospitality, with 992 cabins. A relaxing atmosphere, with magnificent internal views from the foyer and external ocean views from floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows in various areas of the ship.<\/p>

There are a variety of lounges and bars, including the charming Beverly Hills Bar or the traditional English-style Lord Nelson Pub, the perfect place for a pre-theatre drink. For families, there is a children's area created in partnership with LEGO\u00ae and Chicco\u00ae, as well as the Spray Park, a fun aquapark for children, and two swimming pools, as well as a complete program of activities for guests of all ages.<\/p>

MSC Musica arrives in the Marvelous City on November 30th. Designed exclusively by MSC Crociere, the ship was christened by Sophia Loren in Venice in 2006. Built in France, it debuted in South America two years later, offering a unique cruise experience for passengers embarking on this journey.<\/p>

MSC Musica, with capacity for more than 3,200 people, impresses with its details and elegance. The reception, which features a three-level waterfall and a piano suspended on a crystal floor beneath the illuminated water pool, creates the perfect atmosphere for guests to immerse themselves in their rest period without any worries.<\/p>

The 2023\/2024 cruise season at Pier Mau\u00e1 is about to begin, and this year, passengers can expect an even safer and more comfortable experience. Preparations are in full swing, aiming to offer travelers maximum protection and convenience during their passage through the terminal.<\/p>

Being one of the longest in recent years, the cruise season begins on October 27, 2023 and continues until May 4, 2024. In total there will be 37 giants, 28 foreign ships and nine national ones. Of these, four will dock for the first time in our Wonderful City. The forecast is for 70 national and 51 international stopovers.<\/p>

Safety and comfort first<\/b><\/h3>

Pier Mau\u00e1 puts the safety and comfort of passengers at the forefront this season. The terminal's infrastructure will be improved with the installation of covers in its areas and an air conditioning system to ensure the comfort of travelers.<\/p>

Before boarding ships, all passengers and crew undergo rigorous inspections, including carry-on bag checks, metal detectors and, when necessary, personal searches. Furthermore, all warehouses are equipped with the most modern scanners, X-ray systems, surveillance cameras and highly trained security guards.<\/p>

The international cruise terminal is also in negotiations to offer the sale of Riocard (electronic ticketing system) for greater convenience for passengers who wish to explore the city using public transport.<\/p>

\u201cOur dedication to safety goes beyond conventional measures. We strictly comply with Ordinances of the General Coordination of Customs Administration (COANA) 80 and 76, which establish the operating conditions and technical requirements of the security system of a customs enclosure. International standard security protocols<\/b><\/h3>

Pier Mau\u00e1 is the second terminal of its kind in Brazil to comply with mandatory international standards, such as ISPS CODE. The rigorous security protocols strictly follow the Security Plan approved by the State Commission for Public Security in State (CESPORTOS) and National (CONPORTOS) Ports, Terminals and Waterways, ensuring that the interface between ships and port facilities is highly safe, preventing shipment of explosives and other risks.<\/p>

Since it began operating in 1998 as a passenger terminal, more than six million travelers have passed through Pier Mau\u00e1 on more than 200 ships of different nationalities.<\/p>

About the previous season<\/b><\/h3>

In the 2022\/2023 season, cruise ships had a significant impact on the economy of the city and surrounding areas, with an approximate speculative value of R$ 996.2 million considering that each cruise ship spends an average of US$ 250 per day in the region, added to the jobs generated . 410,063 passengers were registered, with 110,306 boardings, 105,370 disembarks and 194,387 tourists in transit, totaling 35 ships and 117 stopovers.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

From this month onwards, Pier Mau\u00e1 hosts the biggest events in Rio de Janeiro, but since the beginning of the year it has been the stage for parties, lectures, corporate events and others.<\/p>

Events at Pier Mau\u00e1 have been taking place since the beginning of the year with several events such as: Metaverso Lecture \u2013 Rio Soul Connection, Marielle Vive Festival, World Autism Day \u2013 CDRJ, Rio Art Tattoo Festival 2023, Artificial Intelligence Lecture \u2013 Rio Soul Connection, Anniversary Eletrobr\u00e1s, Festa Julina Escola Pensi, Virada Primavera Ver\u00e3o 23 \u2013 Renner, Chapadinhas de Endorphina Training.<\/p>

This sequence of events attracts a diverse audience and promotes the region's economy. In 2022, 12 events took place, with an approximate movement of 342,060 people, around 19,585 jobs created and an impact on the economy of 204 million (approximate speculative value adding the gross revenue of the events to the impact of their participants on the local economy and jobs generated) .<\/p>

During all the events held at Pier Mau\u00e1 last year there was an increase of 120% in the use of the VLT, the most significant being Innovation week, with 67%; Rio, Oil and Gas Fair with an increase of 16% and LER 2022 with 10%.<\/p>

The cruise season ends on April 17, 2023 at Pier Mau\u00e1. The last illustrious visitor to say goodbye to the Marvelous City is the Costa Firenze, which opens and closes the month passing through the terminal on the 1st, 04th, 07th, 15th and ending on the 17th.<\/p>

The month of April also features seven more ships. On the 4th it is MSC Fantasia\u2019s turn; day 5, MSC Musica; the 6th, Silver Cloud (which opened the season at Pier Mau\u00e1 on October 28, 2022); day 12, World Explorer; day 13, Celebrity Infinity; day 14 Costa Favolosa; day 16, MSC Preziosa.<\/p>

With 35 ships and approximately 400,000 tourists of different nationalities, Pier Mau\u00e1 closes the 2022\/2023 season that began on October 28 last year. During the period, the Pier received 24 international ships, 11 national ships and nine ships had their first stay in the city. There were 85 calls by national ships and 32 by international ships, with a total of 117 dockings.<\/p>

The larger ships that transited Pier Mau\u00e1 were the highlights of this season, making it the biggest in the last 10 years, according to the Brazilian Cruise Ship Association (CLIA Brasil). They were: MSC Seashore, the largest cruise ship that was in Brazil with capacity for 7,077 people and was at Pier Mau\u00e1 on December 9, 2022 and March 27, 2023; the MSC Seaview, which has capacity for 6,842 people and carried out trips lasting three to seven nights, the first of which was on December 6, 2022 and the last passage through the terminal on March 10, 2023; the Costa Firenze, which was the largest ship in the history of Costa Cruises to come to South America. It passed through Pier Mau\u00e1 several times on trips lasting three to seven nights and ends the season on April 17, 2023. Its capacity is 6,538 people on board, including crew; and MSC Preziosa, which has capacity for 5,767 people. Twin of the ships MSC Fantasia, MSC Splendida and MSC Divina, the ship was at Pier Mau\u00e1 on December 30, 2022 for the end of year festivities, during Carnival, on February 19 and on April 16, 2023.<\/p>

In addition to these ships with exuberant capacity, other MSC vessels also passed through: the MSC Armonia, the MSC Musica, the MSC Fantasia and the MSC Preziosa and Costa Cruises: the Costa Fortuna and the Costa Favolosa.<\/p>
