Historic facilities in the port area will be illuminated during the month of June, reinforcing Pier Mau\u00e1's commitment to diversity and inclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pier Mau\u00e1 is taking part in the 5th edition of the Rio de Colores Circuit<\/em> and, in support of the campaign, illuminates its historic cranes in the colors of the LGBTI+ pride flag. In addition to the illumination, the cruise terminal is also displaying the official tile of the circuit's participants in the reception area. The action takes place throughout the month of June and is part of a series of initiatives promoted by companies and institutions committed to diversity and building a more inclusive environment in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its century-old cranes receiving new lighting, Pier Mau\u00e1 - an icon of the port area and an important international cruise terminal - is also becoming a symbol of respect for diversity, representativeness and the celebration of plurality. The initiative reinforces Pier Mau\u00e1's role as a multifaceted space, aligned with the values of inclusion and respect, highlighting its importance not only as a cultural and events hub, but also as a strategic point for tourism and Rio de Janeiro's economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held since 2021, the Rio de Colores Circuit<\/em> is the result of a partnership between the Visit Rio Convention Bureau and the Brazilian LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. The project seeks to position Rio de Janeiro as an increasingly welcoming destination for the LGBTI+ public, bringing together symbolic and visible actions during pride month, celebrated worldwide in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The action is in addition to others promoted by the circuit, such as special signage, promotional actions and activations at tourist attractions and partner establishments in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why June?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LGBTI+ Pride Day (June 28). The date has its origins in the struggles around the Stonewall Bar in New York on June 28, 1969, when a crowd rebelled against the police, who were trying to arrest homosexuals, transvestites and transsexuals. For three days and nights LGBTQIAPN+ people and allies resisted the police siege and the date became known as the Stonewall Uprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From then on, Gay Pride (LGBTQIA+ Pride March) was created and the resistance got the attention of many countries, especially the United States, in the fight for the community's rights. These people sought only self-respect and social respect, as well as recognition that they had and have equal civil rights. The modern movement for the rights of LGBTQIAPN+ people was born.<\/p>\n\n\n
