Pier tips for the Labor Day weekend

Another long holiday… And if you are from Rio and have not traveled or are a tourist interested in the best points of the Marvelous City, there are several leisure and entertainment options to enjoy these days here in the surroundings of Pier Mauá. Some of the most popular events include samba at Morro da Conceição/Pedra do Sal and Praça Mauá.

Check out Pier’s tips:

For those who enjoy a samba, you can't miss Pedra do Sal, more precisely located in Largo João da Baiana, at the foot of Morro da Conceição, a property listed by the State Institute of Cultural Heritage (Inepac). Morro da Conceição is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro and is known for its historic architecture, as well as being one of the main birthplaces of Rio samba.

And to start the weekend, today, April 28th, there's samba with Diogão Pereira, starting at 7pm. On Saturday there is Samba de Lei, starting at 7pm. For the May 1st holiday, there is the Roda de Samba da Pedra do Sal, which has been taking place for 16 years, on Mondays, from 7pm to 11pm.

And the best: everything is free! Oh! And you can even enjoy a panoramic view of the city! (To stay up to date with the latest news, you can follow the page on Instagram @rodadesambadapedradosal It is @pedradosaloficial).

How about a cult program:

For those who like theater, Cia de Mystérios e Novidades presents the cordel show “Chegança do Almirante Negro na Pequena África”, inspired by the Revolta da Chibata episode and its leader, João Cândido. There will be three free sessions over the weekend, always at 4pm. On Saturday, the show takes place at Praça da Harmonia, in Gamboa; on Sunday, in Praça Mauá and on Monday, at the Centro Municipal de Arte Hélio Oiticica, in Praça Tiradentes.

And to close, arts and more arts:

Here, close to Pier Mauá, you can visit the Museum of Tomorrow, O Rio Art Museum and you can take the opportunity to stroll through the open-air art gallery, on Olympic Boulevard, complete with Instagrammable photos everywhere! ; )

Regardless of which option you choose, the weekend in Rio de Janeiro promises to be full of culture, music and fun. Enjoy!!!
