The longest cruise season will start in Rio de Janeiro

Pier Mauá offers even more safety and comfort for passengers in the season that starts in October 2023 and runs until May 2024

Summer is coming, the most anticipated time of the year in the Marvelous City! And with it, the cruise season arrives at Pier Mauá. Being one of the longest in recent years, the season begins on October 27, 2023 and continues until May 4, 2024. In total there will be 37 giants, 28 foreign ships and nine national ones. Of these, four will dock for the first time at Pier Mauá.

The forecast is for 69 national and 51 international calls, totaling 120 dockings and an expected movement of 440,000 passengers throughout the season, with an expected economic impact of R$ 550 million for the city. The terminal will have simultaneous vessels on various dates such as December 31st, Carnival (February 11th to 13th), February 24th and March 3rd with four ships. There will also be seven days with three ships, 21 days with two ships and 65 days with one ship.

The first vessel that will have the honor of opening the season (10/27) is the Scenic Eclipse expedition ship. The high-luxury cruise has several special features, including its own fleet of helicopters and submarines, used to reach destinations in remote regions such as Antarctica and the Arctic.

On the 28th it is the turn of MSC Preziosa with capacity for 4379 passengers. Preziosa, which won the VT Prize in 2018/2019, has as its trademark the staircase studded with Swarovski crystals. The ship has a water park with five swimming pools and a 120-meter long water slide, which projects out of the ship. The list of attractions continues with a bowling alley, 4D cinema, theater with Broadway-style shows, casino, spa and sports court. The ship will make national cruises of 3 to 5 nights, alternately visiting Ilhabela (SP), Búzios (RJ), Ilha Grande (RJ), Balneário Camboriú (SC) and Porto Belo SC); and also international flights lasting six to seven nights, visiting Búzios (RJ), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Ilhéus (BA), Punta del Este (Uruguay), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). Boarding will be in Santos (SP).

On the 31st and staying overnight until the 1st of November, the international Le Lyrial, which began sailing in 2015, is the 4th ship in the Sisterships class, which represents the new generation of Ponant ships. The elegance of its external and internal spaces and its intimate size, with just 122 cabins, make this a rare and innovative yacht in the cruise market.

In the months of October and November, Pier Mauá will receive 10 ships with an average movement of 32,760 tourists.
