Sailboat parade at Pier Mauá

Seven vessels, from different parts of the world, will be moored here at Pier Mauá from the 13th to the 20th of February and open to free visitors from the 14th to the 19th of February, from 1pm to 6pm, by appointment, which can now be made on the Brazilian Navy website (https://www.marinha.mil.br/velas-latinoamerica-2022).

The participating ships are from “Velas Latinoamerica 2022”, a meeting of large sailing ships from friendly navies that sail around Latin America with the aim of strengthening friendship ties between institutions, in addition to promoting the culture of each of the participating countries during the stay in ports.

The event marks the beginning of the celebrations of our country's 200 years of independence by the Brazilian Navy and will have the participation of the Sailboat “Cisne Branco”, from the Brazilian Navy, and ships from the Friendly Navies of Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Mexico.

Velas Latinoamerica takes place every four years, since 2010. The organization of the event rotates between the participating countries. In the current edition, the stay in the port of Rio de Janeiro will begin the event.
