INS Tarkash's visit is special as it is the first by an Indian Navy ship to Brazil in almost two
decades and according to the institution, it is a way of “strengthening international cooperation with friendly countries”.
INS Tarkash is a Russian Project 11356 Krivak III-class frigate, renamed the Talwar class by the Indian Navy, which has a total of three such ships.
After completing her Mediterranean deployment, she entered the Atlantic to continue her long-range voyage. Last month, on July 26, according to the Indian Navy, the ship had participated in a maritime partnership exercise in the Atlantic with the Royal Moroccan Naval Hassan 2, a Floreal Class Corvette. Activities carried out included man overboard exercises, visits on board search and seizure operations, refueling approaches at sea, tactical maneuvers and helicopter landings on deck.
The Indian Navy said in its recent statement that the ship is being sent on its special mission for five months from June 27 and during its mission it will visit 14 ports in eleven countries in Europe, South America and Africa.
To participate in the visit on board INS Tarkash, on August 13th and 14th, visitors must register for free using the link https://bit.ly/3QHl8Jf .
