Pier Mauá receives more than 29 thousand tourists in the week leading up to carnival

Carnival 2020 is coming and tourists keep arriving in the Marvelous City! Between the 12th and 19th of February, the week before Carnival, Pier Mauá receives eight vessels, two of which are international, with an average movement of more than 29 thousand tourists. In the month of February alone, Rio de Janeiro estimates the arrival of more than one hundred thousand tourists who chose to arrive in the city on 12 transatlantic ships.

The international Oceania Marina, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, arrives on the 12th from Recife with 1625 tourists and continues the journey the following day at 8pm to Búzios. Launched in 2011, the Oceania Marina cruise ship is one of the company's newest ships, along with sister ship Riviera. Both liners were built in Italy and designed by the Norwegian marine architecture firm “Petter Yran and Bjorn Storbratten”. Oceania Marina's current cruise is 53 days, one-way from Miami (Florida) to Callao (Lima-Peru). The itinerary started on January 22nd and ends on March 15th, 2020.

Sovereign arrives on the 14th and carries out short-term cruises around South America. The 2019-2020 season was MS Sovereign's 11th consecutive season in South America since 2008, when the ship was transferred from Royal Caribbean International to Pullmantur Cruises.

On the 15th, Pier Mauá will have two MSC vessels, the Fantasia, which returns on the 19th, and the Musica. The two together bring an average of 10 thousand tourists.

The Costa Pacifica docks on the 16th with almost five thousand people and continues its journey to Ilha Grande. He also picks up passengers at Pier Mauá.

On the 18th, the place has two moorings: the Sovereign that returns and the Europa 2. The international ship spends the night at Pier Mauá and continues its journey to Salvador. This trip lasts 17 days, one way from Rio de Janeiro to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
