Pier Mauá receives four ships in the week before Christmas

Two vessels will be present simultaneously on the 23rd

This Friday (21), the transatlantic Costa Favolosa, from the company Costa Cruzeiros, arrives at Pier Mauá. The ship is 290 m long and has capacity for 3780 guests. To enjoy the sun and relax, guests have four swimming pools, a waterslide and five jacuzzis at their disposal. Other facilities include: sports courts, jogging circuit and outdoor screen. Arrival is scheduled for 8am and departure at 5pm.

On the 22nd, MSC Fantasia returns to the Pier for the fifth time this season. The company's premium category, the Yacht Club is like a private club inside the vessel. In addition to exclusive spaces, such as the Top Sail Lounge, with a privileged view, and the One Pool, which has a swimming pool, hot tub and private bar, passengers enjoy suites that are pure luxury, 24-hour butler service and all-inclusive meals served whenever he wants. Its common area includes five swimming pools, a water park, 15 hot tubs and attractions ranging from a Formula 1 simulator to a 4D cinema, including a nightclub for teenagers.

On December 23rd, Pier Mauá will have two simultaneous dockings: Sovereing and MSC Orchestra.

Also known as Soberano, Sovereing remains until 7pm on the 23rd. It runs four-night mini cruises in two itineraries: Santos- Rio de Janeiro- Búzios- Santos and Santos -Rio de Janeiro – Balneário Camboriú- Santos (there is also boarding in the river). The liner underwent a revitalization that guaranteed improvements to cabins and common spaces.

The MSC Orchestra is part of the MSC Cruises company in the Music category. On board, cruisers will find warm Mediterranean hospitality, delicious Italian cuisine and attention to the smallest details. Opened in May 2007, MSC Orchestra is one of the Italian company's most recent ships.

About the 2018-2019 season

O Pier Mauá in the 2018-2019 season it has 102 berths and an increase of 15% in the total number of travelers embarked.

“We are forecasting something around US$ 114 million injected into the city's economy in these six months of the season. It’s a huge movement in Rio’s economy and we need it”, celebrates Alexandre Gomes, operations manager at Pier Mauá.

The season started on October 27th and runs until the end of April 2019. The forecast is to exceed 380 thousand tourists who will enjoy the Marvelous City throughout the period. The International Cruise Terminal operates in Warehouses 4 and 5, with boarding taking place in Warehouse 4 and baggage handling in 5.

Information for cruisers on the best boarding route

Many passengers who are arriving to board at Pier Mauá by taxi or via the app are getting off on Av. Rio Branco corners Acre Street, causing inconvenience for those bringing suitcases, as it is far from Armazém 4, the passenger terminal. The concessionaire wants to inform cruisers that they must get off at Av. Venezuela and Rua Souza Lima. For those coming by car, the nearest 24-hour parking is “Parking Pier Mauá”, with a car entrance between Barão de Tefé and Souza Lima, and pedestrian access on Boulevard Olímpico, almost at the height of Armazém 4. For those coming by VLT, the closest station is Parada dos Navios.

With this, Pier Mauá wants to minimize inconvenience to tourists and make the trip even more pleasant.
