Pier Mauá hosts the Rio Construção Summit, the largest civil construction event in the country

Pier Mauá will be the stage for the biggest event ever held in Brazil in the civil construction sector: the Rio Construção Summit (RCS) 2023, which takes place between the 19th and 21st of September. Promoted by the Civil Construction Industry Union in the State of Rio de Janeiro (SindusconRio), the event is focused on content, innovation and networking and will promote debates based on relevant and current themes for the construction segment, which leads the generation balance of jobs in national and Rio de Janeiro industry this year.

 

For three days, the biggest global leaders and players will come together to discuss the current situation and the prospects for increasing construction productivity, reducing the housing deficit and improving infrastructure in Brazil. Innovation, main trends, job creation and the recovery of the sector are among the topics of the meeting. RCS is a fully immersive event, focused on promoting exchanges, business rounds and networking. The idea is that the event can leave a practical and positive legacy for the city. At the opening, participation is expected from the governor of the state of Rio, Claudio Castro, and the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, as well as the mayors of the cities of Madrid (Spain) and Bogotá (Colombia). In total there will be more than 200 speakers, divided into four simultaneous stages, sharing more than 80 hours of content. The event is expected to bring together an audience of more than five thousand people, including businesspeople, engineering and architecture professionals, public authorities and students.

 

“It is a major event, which will bring to Rio de Janeiro the leading role in discussions surrounding the construction industry and the real estate market. We will talk about innovation, legislation, new construction methods, debates and presentation of successful examples, national and international, presented by renowned speakers who will bring a lot of content”, anticipates Claudio Hermolin, president of SindusconRio.

 

“Our sector is currently experiencing one of its best phases. This year, it is leading the generation of jobs in the industry in the state of Rio and the expectation for the remainder of the year is for even greater growth. In this scenario, the RCS brings important content to the chain, such as improving infrastructure in the country, housing projects that can contribute to reducing the housing deficit, and new technologies that will help transform the future of construction”, he details. Among the various issues that will be debated during the RCS are the prospects for increasing construction productivity; the innovations that will transform the future of the segment; the role of the public and private sectors in modernizing and increasing the efficiency of the production chain; practices adopted in Brazil and abroad in relation to professional qualification, health and safety at work.

Some of the names already confirmed for the debate tables are the president of the National Heavy Construction Industry Union (SINICOM), Cláudio Medeiros, as well as Caio Magri, from the Ethos Institute, and Eduardo Toledo, professor at USP. Among the international guests who will be participating in the debates, Mohamad Kassem, from Newcastle University (England).

 

Tax Reform, a subject widely discussed in the country, will also be present through the debate “Impacts of Tax Reform in the Civil Construction Sector”. Retrofitting in real estate production (“Economic dynamics, legal incentives and practical analysis”) and “How can Construction support the reindustrialization of Brazil?” are other topics.

In addition to all the round tables, the Rio Construção Summit will also feature immersive environments to make the experience even more enriching for the public.

 

Held by Sinduscon-Rio, the Rio Construção Summit 2023 is in partnership with Firjan (Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro) and has as strategic partners CBIC (Brazilian Chamber of the Construction Industry), Sinicon (National Union of the Construction Industry Heavy Construction – Infrastructure), the FIIC (Inter-American Federation of the Construction Industry) and the CNI (National Confederation of Industry). The event also has the support of the Rio State Government and Rio City Hall.
