If you want to enjoy something different on the weekend, plan on attending the 0800 shows that will take place here in Praça Mauá. In celebration of Women's Month, Sesc RJ prepared an incredible program at the Mulheres Plurais festival, including various recreational activities, where the two main attractions of the event are the performances by singers Dona Onete (on Saturday (26), at 6pm) and Alcione (on Sunday (27), at 6pm). And the opening act for both shows is DJ Verônica Orkídia, a musical researcher involved with Afro rhythms in popular culture, who, starting at 3pm, presents sets with genres that span across Africa, Cuba and the Americas. Among them, afrobeats, sambas, coco, maracatu, kuduro, hip hop, R&B, soul, funk, reggae and, mainly, MPB (Black Brazilian Music).
Caribó diva Dona Onete pleases her fans with hits like “Banzeiro” and “No Meio do Pitiú”, which reach people all over the world. The beloved Marrom, who celebrates her 50 years of career, performs the show “Tijolo por Tijolo”, with songs such as “Sufoco”, “Gostoso Veneno”, “Estranha Loucura”, “A Loba”, “Você Me Vira a Cabeça ”, “Meu Ébano” and “Não Let o Samba Die”. Alcione has sold 12 million records and won more than 350 national and international awards, such as the Latin Grammy; honors, titles and commendations.
The artists' shows close the daily program, which starts at 10 am and extends throughout Saturday and Sunday, with conversation circles, soirees, creative economy fair, literary fair, storytelling, workshops, exhibitions and recreational activities for children and adults. The program is 100% free, with some activities requiring prior registration.
