About the Terminal

The port of Rio

International cruise terminal

More than three million tourists have passed through the International Cruise Terminal at Pier Mauá, in Rio de Janeiro. Concessionaire of the terminal for 50 years, the company revolutionized the standard of service to maritime tourism. Financial and operational investments paved the way for the growth of cruise tourism, which was 800% between 1998 and 2011. Pier Mauá has been investing consistently in infrastructure works and improvements that have completely transformed the look of the port area.

The Pier Mauá Maritime Terminal received the World Travel Award for “Best Cruise Port in South America”, awarded in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 by Travel Weekly, an important publication in the tourism industry. The award is the result of voting carried out by approximately 200,000 travel agents and tourism professionals from 198 countries, via the internet, during the World Travel Market, an international tourism business fair that takes place annually in London. At the same event – and also for the sixth consecutive year – the city of Rio de Janeiro was elected the best destination in South America.
