How about a late afternoon program for the whole family? This weekend (and the next), Copacabana will transform into an open-air dance floor, with the most varied rhythms. It is the second edition of Tim Music Rio, one of the biggest free music festivals in the country, which takes place on the 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th of May, at Posto 4, in front of Rua Constante Ramos.
During the four days there are shows by big names such as Daniela Mercury, Caetano Veloso, Jorge Aragão, Pretinho da Serrinha, Baiana System and Liniker, among others, always starting at 4pm.
The presentation of Bateria do Instituto TIM will mark the opening of TIM Music Rio. Formed by around 50 children, teenagers and adults with and without disabilities, the project has existed since 2010 and promotes musical education and inclusion by uniting people without disabilities with rhythmists with some type of disability, such as deafness, autism and Down Syndrome. Led by Mestre Mangueirinha, from Vila Isabel, the group will bring to its repertoire great classics of Brazilian music.
To start the shows, Saturday (20), the program has women as protagonists and opens with Juliana Linhares accompanied by the group Monobloco, led by Pedro Luís. The presentation also features the participation of Aline Paes. Soon after, it's the turn of Axé by Daniela Mercury with hits such as “Canto da Cidade”, “Maimbe Danda” and “Swing da Cor”.
On Sunday, it's time for samba and trap. Pretinho da Serrinha takes the stage with Jorge Aragão for a great samba circle, with classics for everyone to sing along. To close, Matuê, one of the biggest names in national trap today, and who has already had three of the six songs in first place on Spotify, with hits such as “Deixe-Me Ir”, “Máquina do Tempo”, “MDS”, “ Quer Voar”, “Malvadão” and “Vampiro”.
The second weekend of TIM Music Rio begins next Saturday, the 27th, with the band Bala Quero, formed by singers and composers Dora Morelenbaum, Julia Mestre, Lucas Nunes and Zé Ibarra, with their sound that mixes bossa-nova, indie pop , tropicalist music, pop rock and MPB. Soon after, the attraction is Caetano Veloso. The artist will take to the sands of Copacabana the show of his current tour “Meu Coco”, in which he mixes songs from his latest album, of the same name, with great hits from his more than 60 years of career — soundtrack of entire lives .
On the last day of the festival, the 28th, singer and songwriter Liniker, the first trans Brazilian artist to win a Latin Grammy (for best Brazilian popular music album), takes the stage and performs songs from her repertoire, such as “Zero”, “Baby 95” and “Bem Bom”. Then, in a fusion of the Jamaican genre with Afro-Brazilian chords, BaianaSystem closes the festival with a show full of symbolism, with hits such as “Sulamericano”, “Reza Forte”, “Duas Cidades”, among others.
Oh! Those who cannot be at Copacabana beach will be able to enjoy the festival from home. The two weekends of the event will be broadcast on Globoplay (live and free to air). The first weekend's shows will also be broadcast on Multishow.
