CDRJ and tenants of the Port of Rio de Janeiro extend humanitarian action in Caju until the end of the year

Each month, one of the six participating companies is responsible for purchasing basic food baskets and this month it was Pier Mauá's turn

For the fourth consecutive month, this Wednesday (29), Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ) and the tenant companies of the Port of Rio de Janeiro terminals delivered basic food baskets to 105 vulnerable families in the community of Caju, a neighborhood surrounding the harbor. Humanitarian aid aims to minimize the socioeconomic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Port Authority's initiative, which mobilized the other companies, began in April and would, in principle, last three months (a monthly basket for each of the families), but with the need for social isolation for longer, the action was extended for another six months, that is, until the end of the year.

CDRJ partner companies that collaborate with the cause are: Triunfo Logística, ICTSI Rio Brasil, Pier Mauá, Rio de Janeiro Wheat Terminal (TTRJ) and MultiTerminais. As there are six companies, for each month of extension, one company will be responsible for purchasing the baskets. This month was the responsibility of Pier Mauá.

The benefiting families were mapped based on their registration at the Social Reference and Service Center (CRAS). The basic baskets include food products, cleaning materials and personal hygiene items in quantities estimated for a family of four. The next delivery is scheduled for August 26th.
