Pier Mauá shakes up the Port of Rio with different events this summer

Cariocas and tourists can enjoy varied events in one of the city's trendiest spaces

We are approaching a busy month due to Carnival, but Pier Mauá will be even busier. We are going to promote a series of cultural, social and leisure activities, which should be accessible to everyone this summer. Named “Pier On”, Armazém 1B will be transformed into a versatile space for holding the most varied events, such as carnival balls, Orchestras projects, food truck festivals and much more. Production is being carried out by the production company One Job, which entered into a partnership with the concessionaire during the months of January, February and March.

Opening the schedule, on January 31st and February 7th the Great Sessions will take place, a open format from the Great DJ's project, a school for new talents at the iconic Rio underground club, Fosfobox. Events take place on the balcony from 10pm, with tickets priced at R$ 40.00.

On February 1st, the party Qual foi mané? from 8pm. On the 6th, in conjunction with the city hall, several healthy aging centers in the region will be invited to host the Best Age Ball. The event has free entry, starting at 2pm.

Carna on Pier, a block event, takes place on February 8th and 15th, at 4pm. The varandinha project – a samba circle that takes place on the balcony – will take place on the 9th and 16th of February and the 8th of March.

A carnival ball entertains the public on February 14th in a super rehearsal. Mangueira and Beija-Flor together perform with dancers, a couple of masters and flag bearers, interpreters and drums. All the joy and beauty that schools bring to Marquês de Sapucaí in their parades in the middle of Pier Mauá. The event takes place at 6pm, with tickets starting at R$ 50.00.

Martial arts invade warehouse 1B on February 19th. The Instituto Irmãos Nogueira and the Prefeitura Escola de Lutas project promote a large MMA class for the children and teenagers already served by the project. Visitation is open to the public and takes place from 2pm to 5pm.

February 20th is the day of the Orquestras project, which brings together performances by Camerata Uerê, made up of students from Projeto Uerê who play violin, viola, cello, bass and percussion, and Orquestra Vozes Meninos do Rio, a project run by the municipal secretariat of education. The event also takes place from 2pm to 5pm and is open to the public.

On the weekend of February 28th to March 1st, it's time for the Food Festival, a street food festival, multicultural fair and entertainment that offers quality cuisine at affordable prices and popular gatherings. Event open to the public from 12pm.

On March 7th, at 11pm, the Festa Du Black will take place, an event that aims to strengthen black music in Rio and deconstruct barriers created by society through music, mixing art, culture and entertainment.

And the events don't stop there! Some activities still have dates to be defined, such as Varanda Navios (which will be open every day for lunch in partnership with bar Mané and a sunset with DJ in the balcony lounge), among others.
